INR range 2.5 - 3.5 and I take 6mg a day.
Lab reading yesterday 3.9

Doc phones to tell me to skip todays dose and resume tomorrow with regular dosage. My doc is afraid I'll have a brain bleed. Personally, I think my doc is having a panic attack. I don't thnk I should skip a dose, maybe take 5mg tonite.

Just need your input.
Am I thinking right?

Freddie, please tell me you are joking..............or your doc is dumber than we originally thought. ;)
INR of 3.9.............no change in dosing unless some kind of trend is going on.

3 to 4

3 to 4

.
surely your doctor is not correct; as instructed by my surgeon and cardiologist, my inr range is 3 to 4. if your doctor was correct, i could have had a couple of strokes by now!

WHOA!!! I can't believe I'm hearing this!!!! Your Dr. had better talk to Al Lodwick or get his dosing chart. OMG!!! Tyce's range is 2.5-3.5 and he has been as high as 6.1....we only held one dose and resumed the next day for that. Personally, with your INR of 3.9, we probably wouldn't do anything, just recheck in 3 days and eat lots of greens.....but that's just an opinion. Don't get crazy, though.......it's your Dr. who needs some education. JMHO. Evelyn

No Joke - that is what she said. Its strange because I've been this high before and she didn't pull the panic button.
I only made this thread just to confirm that I was thinking correctly. I'll take 5mg today and resume my regular doseage tomorrow - and eat more GREENS.

Thanks for the input gang.

You really need to find a new doctor. Yes, that one is Panicking for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Don't change a damn thing, unless as has been mentioned, it's a trend of going upward. This one is another that should go into Al Lodwick's Outrageous advice/wall of shame.

You might have a brain bleed if your hit with a baseball bat.

I was 6.3 last week - he probably would have admitted me to the hospital and given me massive doses of Vit. K.

Instead - I held a dose - took 1/2 a dose and was back in range within 3 days. No bleeding, not really even much concern because I knew by holding my dose the INR was on it's way down within hours.

Part of the beauty of home testing is that you don't have to suffer fools like this doctor.

Yes, I may have to look into finding another Doctor, but when there is a shortage and no other Doctors are taking new patients one is rather stuck.

Fish and Chips with Cole slaw tonight should do the trick ;)

.................Yes, I may have to look into finding another Doctor, .....You should, despite the shortage!!! I am a newbie in this field here, yet I think he is wrong!!.

Fish and Chips with Cole slaw tonight should do the trick ;)

Or some hummus...do you know that chick peas is high in K?! I was surprised when I found out.

Anyhow, you already by now have had your dinner, considering the time difference between us.:D

Well, we're glad to step in & help be your doctor Freddie & the best thing is, we're free!!!!! :p :D :)

So is my doctor. Here in Canada we don't pay for doctors visits - doesn't matter what kind of doctor you see - that's our health care system.

Oh yea, I did take my regular dose of 6mg tonite followed by some pickle juice :)

Freddie find someone new and not at City hearing the news there they call
an ambulance while you are at the hospital door entrance passed out
I hope the guy does sue them which i shoulda done when they fed me too much warfarin after surgery.

omg i cannot believe this, honestly it's gettin worse in Canada:( that is sad.):(

Glad your not on amiodarone she'd have definately killed me by now as my inr is up and down till crap gets outta my system i need to watch it weekly
but going good and careful or i'd be yelling for Ross or Al if i wasnot sure,Karylynn,Bina (HELP) you did best with your own decision and from learning here,(DON"T CHANGE IT OR STOP IT) GOOD GIRL!!!!:):);)
Now dr hunting is hard in toon town........Be careful with these orders regard.
warfarin such as you got:eek:

zipper2 (DEB)

Just got to thinking Freddie, this scenario is already on Al's wall of shame:

My INR was 3.8 today. My range is 2.5 to 3.5. I was told to hold my warfarin for for two days and decrease my daily dose. The worst part is that this person also said that they had switched doctors because the previous one was not doing a good job of managing warfarin.

What kind of Doctor is this?
(GP, PCP, Internist, Cardiologist?)

If she is not a Cardiologist, I would get a second opinion from your Cardiologist. It would probably help if your Cardiologist could 'straighten her out' on managing anticoagulation!

'AL Capshaw'

Hi Freddie
There is probably a thrombosis clinic (hematology department) connected to the hospital where you had your surgery. Have you tried contacting them to monitor your warfarin?

Freddie:

There has to be a way for you to get a different doctor. The one you have could be very dangerous to your continued good health. I shudder when I wonder if this doctor is treating other people on anticoagulation.

An INR of 3.9 is not a problem. Al's INR range has been 3.0 to 4.0 since January, 2001. He has been at 4.0 or a bit higher many, many times with no problems.

I agree with the other members, your INR is just fine. Please do not hold any doses.
