Hi Gisele-

Driving in Boston is crazy, I agree with you.

I graduated from Boston University many years ago, and Boston drivers were bad then, now with the Big Dig, it horrible.

When you mentioned Storrow Drive, it brought back memories. I lived in University dorms in the Backbay area. Do you remember when Lahey clinic was in that area? My husband used to go there for cardiology before they moved to Burlington.

Do you remember Ken's delicatessen? They had the most delicious roast beef sandwiches and strawberry cheesecake.

Filene's Basement shopping was so much fun.

Stop it! Your making me very hungry already.

Funny that you mention it!!! LOL LOL LOL!!!

Funny that you mention it!!! LOL LOL LOL!!!

Morning Gisele,

You wanna hear something absolutely hysterical? My Last Name is Lowell, but I really know nothing of the town except that I make sure I lock my doors while driving through Lawrence/Lowell Area. I used to have a photo pickup/delivery route that started in Haverhill, took me through Lawrence, Andover, Reading, LOWELL, and back to Haverhill. let me tell you, when I saw that Market Basket Store Manager in Lawrence carry a pistol, I knew it was time to lock the doors. LOL Although, I must admit, the adrenalin rush was pretty cool. --But look where I Am now...lol...

I also wanted to tell you that I did find out that I have cardiomyopathy and chf, and I am now waiting to see what's next, like everyone else, so I think I will have to stay off the streets of boston if I wanna preserve what I have left...lol Oh, I am sorry, it's the humor again....I just cannot resist trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Meanwhile, take care and KEEP ON TICKING!!!! Harrybaby666:D :D :D :D :D :D

Filene's

Filene's

Nancy it is funny you should mention Filene's. My girlfriend and I would take the train when we were in high school and go shopping in Boston. I remember that in Filene's basement you would actually try all your clothes on right there in the middle of the store (there were no changing rooms). No one gave it a second thought either!

I don't remember Lahey when they were in Boston, probably because I really avoided going into Boston. Norm and I do enjoy going to the North End once in a while for a great Italian meal. Do you remember Mike's pasteries? Mmm, they are wonderful.

Dave, thank you so much for your kind words. How are you doing these days? Any word yet on when or if you will return to work?

Harry, my daughter lives in Lawrence (now I would lock my door there), but I grew up in Lowell-yes the part of Lowell where everyone else was afraid of. It really wasn't bad. My street was mostly all French and Greek families.
Funny you should mention that you had a photo route. Did you have a photo lab? I owned a video store and a one hour photo lab for eight years in Dracut. I believe I sold the business in 1994. Have we ever met?

You know, I honestly Don't Know

You know, I honestly Don't Know

Hi Gisele,

I honestly don't know if we had met, I don't believe I picked up in Dracut, and at that time, I believe alot of the photomats were going out at the time, and I know I didn't pick up or drop off at any. Most of my pickups and drop offs were with Osco Drugs, Market Baskets, and CVS at the time, plus a few smaller local stores. Isn't it Ironic though. As far as Lowell, I guess the part that I went through one day with my brother was the bad part, because we did lock our doors, but we didn't see anything dangerous, thank goodness. Isn't it scary though how close you come to meeting people, yet you never meet. LOL, well anyway, to properly introduce myself, lol, My name is Harold Lowell, and I live in Rochester, New Hampshire, orgiginally growing up in Portsmouth...There! Now we have been properly introduced...lol lol. I don't know if you knew of Bicknell Photo out of Scarborough Maine, but that was the company I drove for. Now it is now Konica Quality Photo....Harrybaby:D :D :D :D :D

Uhm,

Uhm,

Hey there Harry,

I don't think we met as I was doing my own photo developing and only sending out my enlargements to a lab in Methuen. Not familiar with Bicknell Photo although I have heard of Konica.

Very nice meeting you Harry of NH. :)

Yeah, I didn't thinkso either, but it sure is nice to now know you from this site

My! What a fast reply...lol

I didn't think we met at that point, but I am sure glad we met on this site. I am soooooo glad that I have the support of you and all the other wonderful people. Take Care, Harrybaby666:D :D :D

Hi Gisele! I have been away from my own PC for a few days so just getting caught up. I'm very glad things are going as well as they are, but the no driving is a bummer. Remember, we have some of the best cardios and surgeons down here if you are still planning on a move. And there is no place like the beach to recover! I think the sea air is what helped me so much. Fresh, clean and unpolluted! Keep the faith and your upbeat attitude--as you know, that goes a long way towards good health! Susan;)

LONG TIME ME NO SAY__HI GISELE

LONG TIME ME NO SAY__HI GISELE

Been away most of the time this summer. Just got thru reading these postings.guess your the good news bad news girl.:)
I'm in a learning mood lately and have taken insruction on INR levels. Now, I want to know what a subdural is: oh yeah and what is sparklie tiarra??
Just want to say I've never met you but swear I saw you at the Rockingham mall once---didn't dare chance mistaken i.d.
Guess what, I have been taking the train into north station, getting on the greenline right to Brigham circle--what a stress reliever from the traffic. But I don't think I'll ride the train home after the op.:D
Hang in there "kid", you do good for the load you carry. keep it up---your inspiring to many I'm sure.

Ram!

Ram!

You saw me at the mall??? When was this? I wish you would have said something to me. I will be honest-if the right side of my head was shaven-then it was me. (you can't tell by looking at me from the front due to my bangs). I go to the Rockingham Mall all the time as it is 9 mins away from my home. Gee, you will have to give me details and I will let you know if it was me! ;) (dead give away is the sparklie tiarra) better known as my diamond crown! LOL :D :D

Subdural hematoma: that would be when a small vessel in your head leaks blood and this blood collects between the dura and the brain. When enough blood accumulates it gives the feeling of intense pressure in your head because there just isn't any room there for anything. A Burr Hole Procedure is when they drill holes in your skull to release the blood and to flush it out. This also relieves all the pressure too. When they started my heperin one week after my surgery and I got another subdural hematoma they decided not to do surgery this time around. My stroke was from the surgery and or lack of anticoagulants.

Susan, I think of Florida every single day. Last night hubby and I were in bed talking about retirement in Florida. I know the sun does wonders for anything that ails ya! I can't wait. Save me a spot down there, OK? :D

GISELE

GISELE

I go to the mall maybe 4 times a year.:)

I don't remember the time or place. It was shortly after you first posted your photo. Could have been someone with similar looks, who knows????

that subdural for you looks like the old "between a rock and a hard place" hey?
Embrace all the good that comes your way, it is so precious and gives value to the meaning of life. my best to you

Hi threre

Hi threre

So sorry I haven't been to the boards much. My husband and I have been stripping wallpaper off the dining room and living rooms walls. I think it was applied with superglue! We started I believe on Monday and we are still not finished and my house is not THAT big! (cape style home).

Right now everything is still up in the air. My local doctor and I are both discouraged with MGH and are going to look into speaking with docs from New England Medical Center. Now I have to sit and wait and see what they they think. It is not just a matter of a cardiac surgeon' opinion, but also what a neuro surgeon thinks. Supposedly I can resume my coumadin by around the 1st of November. I haven't decided yet how I will handle this. I don't want to go back on, however I am sick of living in fear of having a stroke, on the other hand I don't want to bleed again in my head.

Sorry I haven't been on the boards all week. I haven't forgotten about everyone, I have just been busy. I hate my house being a total mess and smelling of DIF. I am not sure when the painter will arrive to paint my walls. We are having them ragged. I can't wait!

Thank you so much for all your concern. You are all in my thoughts each day. I hope I have good news for you soon.

Gisele

Gisele,
Happy to hear you are going along well. Sorry to hear you are still in the waiting game. Sorry to hear you have stubborn wallpaper- just encountered that in our bathroom we're remodeling.

Still praying for you and your doctors.
Karlynn

Our clinic has successfully managed several people who have had bleeds into the brain. We see them as often as once per week to make sure that they do not go too high.

Have you ever had patients who have had bleeds while in their normal range? What about multiple bleeds?

My concern this time is that my INR was within my range. At least when I had my first bleed I had been quite high, but since then my doc has kept a close eye on me testing me each week. At least I know that I didn't sneak up high and come back down low when I had the second bleed. The third bleed I know was from the heperin, even though I was being kept low my surgery was recent so I believe that has a lot to do with it.

Just curious as to what provoked the bleeds in your patients.

Thanks for all your imput................ :)

Gisele

One was provoked by a car accident.

Another other one was unprovoked. He was evidently bleeding slowly. One day he got up from a chair and fell. He was confused so his wife called 911. They found that he had a lot of old blood in the subdural area but he had not complained.

I'm not sure about the other 1 or 2 - they were probably at least 5 years ago.

Gisele, I have to ask, what did it feel like when you got your subdural? I am probably over reacting, but lately I've been having a lot of headaches. Today I have one that is REALLY bad (worse even than my migraines) and it feels as if I had been hit on the side of the head with a metal baseball bat, then stabbed through the eye socket with an ice pick. My INR has been high this week because I got sick and didn't eat the greens I should have. Like I said, I'm probably over reacting, but would like to know some warning signs, just in case.

Thanks,
