welcome Margaret

I am another north-of-the-border person, my surgery (aortic valve replacement) was almost 3 months ago (tomorrow will be 3 months lol) and scared was an understatement ! The fear was the worst part, after I got out of hospital, I as only using regular over-the-counter Tylenol for pain. I will confess, there were a few nights when I cried because I thought the niggling always-there pains were never going away, and now at 3 months I can even sneeze without going ouch ! Trust me when I say the beore is worse than the after !

One thing I would like to say to all in the waiting room, you will find yourself much, much more comfortable if you can sleep sitting up somehow for a week or two, maybe more. That was the but I found worst, because I like to curl right up in a ball when I sleep, and that was so sore, and totally impossible for a while.

Hi and welcome to this forum. Make yourself comfortable and read read read! There is a wealth of information here that each one of us has benefited from many times. I don't know of anyplace else that so many valve "people' (I don't like to think of us in terms of patients) are available to share experiences and help each other along. Keep us up to date and let us know when there is a set date, OK?

Welcome, Margaret!

Glad to see you found us. Good to hear you're scared, it means you're a normal human ;) . The pre-surgery days are the worst part of the journey, coming to terms with the reality of the situation is at times overwhelming. If you need to talk to someone, come here and ask (anything!), the folks here are truely special.

Hang in there, things will get better, we've all been there and been through it.

I wish you all the best.

Peace,
Ruth
