Yeah... it was the surgeon who made the call (I'm told) and he should realize Skyler's on warfarin since he has spoken to us, and recommended Skyler be next on the list yesterday when there was a cancellation... the reason this morning? Again, no beds in the PICU ...

My coworker's husband works in journalism... As much as I dislike her, I think I may make peace and see if I can talk to him!

OMG! I hope the medicinal alcohol is covered.

IF you get beeter care for skylar, you also make the system better for others by brining a serious problem to light

We haven't yet been called for another postponment...

Meanwhile, my husband has spoken to various people. He is not the type to get excited about something, generally, but this really annoyed him. He says it's akin to running a restaurant without knowing how many tables or servers are are a vailable, or knowing the restaurant hours, or if the schedule for the cooks... Should he trust that the surgeon will be available when there are finally enough beds AND nurses available? Would that require the stars to align?

We'll just say extra prayers for all the children in the C/ICU that they get better even faster the next few days AND no new babies that need heart surgey are born. Thats one of the tough things about Childrens heart hospitals/units, beside all the planned surgeries, or people needing to stay in the ICU longer than expected or being readmitted for complications, you never know when new babies will be born that need to be transferred ASAP and then if it is a transplant center you never know when a heart becomes avaibable that not only will they need a bed in the unit, but depending if your surgeon also does transplants if they will either doing the surgery or needing sleep from operating all night. Thinking about it all, its pretty amazing more people aren't postponed a couple times.
