New guide dog puppy's name will be Otani. She will come home to live with us on Feb. 25th at the age of 7 weeks.
Thanks for all the input on names which start with letter O. All weekend, we were certain that we would name her Oprah. Late last night, my husband thought of Otani and that sounded right.

Three Cheers!!! The puppy has a name with great history behind it. I found this by doing a search because I liked the sound of the name that I had never heard before. "Otani Honbyo is a mousoleum decidated to Jodo Sinkshu, founder of the Shin Buddhits tradition." There is an Ontani University in Koyoto, Japan, that is dedicated to Shinsu Buddhism. There are also New Otani Hotels in many cities, including LosAngeles, Honolulu, SanFrancisco, Singapore, and Manila. I think what I like best is that the name is unique for most people, like me, will never have heard of it. And, it does have a nice ring.

At first, your post confused me. The only male I mentioned was the guy in the Otani Honbyo Mousoleum. Can't imagine why or how I could be "sittin on his lap." Then, I realized you were speaking about my handsome lover in the avatar. Actually, I have always outweighed Al by as little as 20 lbs and as much as 75 lbs. Didn't do much sittin. Afraid of squashin him or getting bone splinters!!!

The picture was taken in SanFrancisco, on the Warf. I think we may have been in a "Goth" mood for we were both dressed in black. Actually, it was after a big, long lunch with some vino. I do believe we were holding on to a barstool while trying to keep our balance.
