Helen, Ga. the Alpine village in North Ga. was hit by a f2 tornado Monday night....Many of you have written to me telling me how they loved it..Today, they opened the 1 main road going in..Hubby and I went thru town..I wanted to cry... Outside the town..many trees along the river were felled..then when you turn the curve to go thru downtown..The tornado hit the outlet mall, destroying a motel, a wedding chapel and doing much damage to other buildings.. We were lucky that it turned..so main town survived .However, when it turned..hit the River road..Where a long stretch of river ran thru..Like a Riverwalk..ALL trees were downed..many tree people in there cutting up trees..So, now, instead of having a beautiful long stretchof river with huge trees along the banks..We will now have a pasture..No trees, just the River...all trees above the river were down..So, it just looked so sad.. Before the tornado..you could float on tubes..thru all the beautiful OLD trees...on the River..Now, I%%'m sure next summer the Tubing people will be back in business..but last 1.4 of mile will be in full sun.. where they had their main Office. I know..it's nothing compared to the Gulf..but to see a beautiful Village..gone overnight..Trees are so beautifull..And will take years to be planted and grow back....bonnie

It is sad to see such destruction. And to lose old trees is terrible, since it takes so long to grow. I hope you have pictures to remember how it was.

I am very glad it didn't hurt you or your family.

Just glad your alright! Could easily have turned out a different way. Nature will take care of itself and would love a little help.
