Please excuse me as I vent.
This has been some week.
The distributor for one of Joe's exotic medications, Tracleer, the one which is keeping him alive, decided to mess up his shipment to such a degree, that he has one day left. They have lied and lied and lied to us, even told Joe it had been shipped. Then they blamed the doctor's office for not getting back to them. I checked that out and was given the time, the extension number and the date that they had been called by the doctor's coordinator, to renew his prescription. So more lies. I have been on the phone at least a couple of times each day, even over the weekend. And I have been on my broom, flying around at top speed in a very unpleasant mood.
Finally today, they agreed to ship it out Fedex overnight. Just in time. Tomorrow will be his last dosage.
What a shoddy operation, and they distribute the most expensive medications for pulmonary hypertension patients. Joe's meds are $30,000.00 per year, but other people have central lines in place with medications costing $100,000.00 per year.
All of these medications are life-saving medications and must be taken each day to sustain life.
So games are being played everywhere in the medical field.
In addition to that stress, Joe had some more skin lesions frozen that looked suspicious (precancerous). Everything was going along fine except for one which started festering and then developed a large swollen red area all around.
So he is now on an antibiotic. This has made him retain fluid, so I had to call the card. today and get instructions for additional diuretics, plus additional Potassium. Now he has to go for extra lab work to check electrolytes.
The extra diuretics and the antibiotic will no doubt affect his INR on Thursday.
So I'm emotionally drained.
But I do have enough fuel left in my broom to blast the shorts off the manager of the medication distributor, if he calls me as he is supposed to. He'll be one sorry dude, I guarantee.
Not a happy camper here!
