My sweet, loving little dog Bridgette finally lost her fight today, Easter Sunday.

All this week, we had been in & out of the animal hospital because all of a sudden she took a turn for the worse. She had been diagnosed with diabetes just 2 weeks ago & for a while it looked like she was going to make it. She stopped eating any solid food since Wednesday morning & I had been feeding her with a spoon this weekend because the vet's office was closed for the weekend & she couldn't be hooked up to the IV's. This morning I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that today was the day. I went to sun-rise service & asked God to please let her die at home because I did not want to have to take her in tomorrow to be put down. T

he Lord listened & she passed away on her little blanket just outside the kitchen door, one of her favorite spots, about an hour & a half ago.

I am very, very sad but also grateful that she passed at home & I thank God for letting her be my friend for 11 years. And she was the best & most loving little dog anyone could wish for.

Bridgette is the schnauzer doggie. My other doggie is Petrie & he is very, very sad & lost right now.

Norma,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Even tho Bridgette is no longer suffering, it doesn't remove the pain for you. Sending hugs and prayers that the memories make things easier.

Oh, how sad. But I like the fact that she passed away at home where she was so happy and had so much love. You did everything that could be done. So sorry, Norma.

I'm truly sorry to hear of Bridgette's passing Norma.

We have two older dogs and each day we have with them we take as a blessing.

Bridgette is in a better place now, with no suffering.

She gave you many precious moments and you'll feel her love for always. Hugs.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Losing a pet is as heartbreaking than losing a person.

Norma,
That is very sad news.
We lost our wonderful German Shepherd to diabetes when he was sixteen and a half years old. It has been a long time ago, but we still think about him all the time.
Gone but certainly not forgotten.

Norma, Sorry to hear about Bridgette. It is so hard when a pet passes away. You miss them so much! Glad to hear she passed away at home and no more pain.
The memories & pictures last a life time cherish those times you had with her.

hi norma,
i'm so sorry to hear about your pup. it is so difficult and painful to lose a pet, we've been through that several times. i also feel so sad for petrie. now that we have two dogs, i often think of how one would handle life after the other goes, since they are so attached.
i'm so happy bridgette was able to remain home during her last hours, where she was most comfortable.
we are thinking of you,
sylvia

Norma,
I'm so sad to read your news. I'm glad your prayers were answered and that she passed away at home. It's so traumatic for pet and friend to have to take them in to be helped on.

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your special friend.

Norma this makes me :(for all of you

as no suffering and happened at home.

Norma...that just stinks. We have lost 3 dogs in the last 7 years or so and it never gets any easier. Your in our prayers...

Sorry for the loss of 'Your Best Friend' Norma Jean.

Whenever I had more than one dog, and one passed,
I would let the other see / sniff the deceased dog before burying the deceased in my backyard. It seemed to help them to understand and prevent the confusion over the absense of the deceased.
