I still don't think they would qualify as symptoms but hit me in the head with a hammer a few more times and it might get through.

It's always risky to suggest around "this crowd" (aka valvers) that you need to be hammered! :D :D :D When you add "a few more times" to your statement, you're just asking for trouble! :D :D :D We're always happy to oblige! ;) ;) ;)

Wow, to think this thread started out as"so how's your arm...."
Dave-these people really care about you and I think it is miraculous!

I've got moderate aortic stenosis, was scheduled for AVR 8/24/05, surgery was postponed indefinitely beacuse the angio showed moderate stenosis not severe. I'm aysymptomatic. I ride in the Sierra Nevada mountains above 7000 feet most of the time. I visted a cardio yesterday to discuss my future. He says I'm a "problem" because I like to ride mountain bikes amongs other outdoor recreational pursuits. He stressed over and over that by no means should I get my heartbeat above 70% of max, for me that would be about 128 BPM. I like my body whole so I WILL heed to his warnings.

Slow down on the bike. I'm 44 years old, never blacked out, heart rate comes down immediately and I feel no adverse effects of my valve, I still beat most of my friends on the big climbs, I'm still listening to the doc as opposed to my body.

Besides, I've been looking for an angle to convince my wife of the need for a Honda CRF 230 dirt bike and now I think I have the perfect one. :D

See what you started Laura? :)

It is humbling to have this much response from people who don't even know me except for some posts on a website.

Thank you all.

Now I will take that advice.

How about those uhmm... that uhmm... what sports are going on right now and can anyone tell me the name of a team??? I should start watching sports so I can talk about something else.

I can certainly relate to all that you have said since I have used the same thought process in the past. I was sure that the caffeine and cold were the problems when I experienced heart failure on a long uphill climb. I had an appointment with a cardiologist made long before and reluctantly mentioned the "happening." He let me know that I was lucky I got the warning and needed to have surgery right away. Luckily we are fixable and have lots more adventures to look forward to. I think the joy of this site, besides the great info is that you won't wear us out on the topic. You can talk about sport teams with the people with their plain old valves.
