My daughter just found out that she was accepted to UC Irvine!
She was so happy , like a weight was lifted off her little shoulders.
There is alot of pressure at her HS to get into a "good" school and she had not heard from the ones she had applied to. Her friends at school ask each other "Where have you been accepted?", and she was starting to feel stupid , as she puts it. Poor thing!
I am so proud of her cause she got into a great school without special tutoring like so many at her school get.
Best of all, she is a happy girl and so nice and smiley, a real great addition to any school.

Gail,
I sure can relate to that kind of stress. We had 2 years of it, my son and then my daughter (now a sophmore and freshman in college). Congratulations to your daughter for a job well done. She's going to love college.

Yes, Gail, it sure puts a lot of stress on the kids (and on the parents, I might add). We, too, have just been thrugh the mill on this, waiting until all the returns were in to make that last round of tours and the final choice. My daughter wants to go into civil engineering, so she has chosen the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Neat school, looks like good career prospects, not too far away, . . what else can a dad ask for?

Gail,

I attended UCI in ....., well, let's just say "back in the day" :D

It's a great school. Is your daughter majoring in one of the life sciences or pre-med?

Gail, congratulations to your daughter! As a UC alumna (Berkeley) I am happy to welcome her into the great UC family.

She's very lucky as well as bright, btw. With the cutbacks coming up next year, a lot of kids who are qualified to get into UC and who, under the California Higher Education Master Plan, were supposed to get into "a" UC campus -- even if not into "the" campus they wanted -- are being re-routed to the California State University system, or even to the community colleges. Which in turn is going to displace a lot of students who normally would be taking those CSU and community college slots.

I got accepted into the CIA...

Oh wait! I shouldn't have said that!

Shhh.....

Don't tell anyone, I could get into real trouble.....

Oh, not talking about the cooking school either, the OTHER other CIA, in Cleveland. =)

Steve

Our daughter played basketball for Franklin College last year and we plyaed against Rose-Hulman. We also have a son who goes to Ind State which is close to Rose-Hulman. We have another son at Purdue who we hope will graduate this May.

Thanks for your kind words, all.
We know she is very lucky to get accepted into a UC.
She was accepted into the drama program and we hope she can study piano as a minor.
We are happy,happy.
