checking in. Teresa prepared our homesite for the storm before we left, just in case. We did all we were sposed to do ex ept fill the tub - because our 3 cats are there and we arent - don't want any drowned cats when we get home. If we have a home to go back to. This storm is a category 4 and that's just one notch below the worst it can get. i HOPE once it gets past Cuba it will have some of the wind speed knocked down. We have a cold front that might help with that.

Son and his wife went to Denver last Sunday and are due home this Sunday. Bet they won't make it to Sarasota. Granddaughter called us to say she is taking her 4 little ones and heading for Ga, as well. I-75, I-10 and all those main arteries will be chock full.

Yaps, and anybody else in the path or east edge of this storm, please prepare and be safe.

Pray for us, please.

I'm praying for you all, Ann.

I bet Yaps has left the building! Or she'd be here reporting. She left during Ivan and this one's much stronger so it follows that she's gone north somewhere - or west. It dropped a bit of speed as it passed Cuba - but I can't find out how much.

All I can see..is I-65 has all 4 lanes going to Montgomery, Alabama Just going East... I heard that motels are filling up as far as Birmingham..I keep forgetting to tell Yaps..My brother has a Hunting Lodge..that has plenty of space and I'm sure he wouldn't mind pets...Free of course..This is about 50 miles from Montgomery..Of course, they felt Ivan, too...Lots of trees down around Selma where he and my Daddy live.(Ivan)... :( Bonnie

Yaps,
I think Bonnie was going out most of the day, and won't check back in until evening. If you need me to call her, post back, and I will tell her you're trying to get ahold of her.

Please could you Mary? I may take her up on her offer.. depends how dennis behaves.. love the pup

Been crummy here all day. Gusty winds and rain. The outer bands started coming through here in the middle of the night and the eye is straight west of us now, about 160 miles offshore.
During one of the lulls this morning we went to the beach and watched the idiot surfers that the storms always seem to bring out. At least the storm is keeping the sharks away.
You guys on the panhandle keep your heads down.
Mark

I sure hope Dennis sends some rain our way. We are dry as a desert here. We planted some new grass and it was coming in nice and thick but now it looks like hay! :(

If anyone talks to Mother Nature tell her so send rain to NW OHIO!! ;)

I just e-mailed you....In case you don't get it..I just called my brother..He has 2 men living there..during off season (hunting) until October..Sorry, I should have checked with him first.......He also said..there are so many trees down that dirt road..that they may fall again  The lastest radar is showing it's going to go straight up thru Selma..where he lives. ....It's really in the boondocks. :D ..When Ivan hit..they were without power and telephone for several weeks.....Power Company gets to rural area's last on list.. ..Daddy lives in town of Selma..His was back on in about 3 days..but..a large oak limb fell just barely missing his roof...Took him 3 weeks before anyone would come out and saw it up... so, it's not just the coast that gets hit hard..but inland..well ..with the high winds..and all those pine trees in the Piney woods of Alabama :D I will pray that you and Hubby and dog will be safe.... Just get on I-65 and head towards Montgomery and above..I know there is a Reststop on the Alabama/Ga. line..as you cross the River.....That should be about 4 hours...if traffic is flowing....Should be with all 4 lanes open going East...I don't think Dennis will come East..but straight up into alabama.....I know that Reststop has lot of vending machines, food, coffee, ect..(where we stop when going to Selma from Ga.)... Let us hear back from you...Bonnie

I hope so..I think I told you my first cousin is a Vet in Foley...not far from you....Jerry Bedsole...also, my favorite 1st cousin lives in Mobile....Raises Rhodenson Ridgesbacks..huge dogs..When Ivan came ..she went way back into Piney woods of Alabama to an Aunt's house..when she returned..her house in Mobile was a mess...but she and her 5 dogs were safe... :) ..I'm really concerned for Daddy... Thank goodness he lives in close neighborhood..with good neighbors..next door..Brother lives about 20 miles out in country. Both live in Brick Homes..Just I hate to know that Daddy may lose his power again....He will really miss watching the Atlanta Braves.. :D ..Stay safe...Bonnie

Well, it takes all kinds!

Well, it takes all kinds!

For everyone living down south, listen to this.

My dear SIL's parents have to take their vacation this coming week. They left last night for Vicksburg, Mississippi, and then plan to continue on down to the coast! Everyone told them they were crazy, but there was no stopping them. Lord only knows where they are today!

If anyone see a 2004 white Monte Carlo with MO license plates headed south while everyone else is going north, just wave and honk your horn! :D :D
Please note their location so we can go find them later! :p :p

If they made it to Vicksburg...I hope they had made reservations.. :D ..Same thing as Alabama.all motels booked as far as Birmingham...and I am sure..Mississippi is the same way.... ..Believe me..they won't be going into Fla..All Interstates are closed to Fla...Just 4 lanes going out....West or East.. ...Plus..rain is forecast after Dennis for all Southern states for next few days.. .Hate it rained on their vacation..Bonnie

I hope all the folks who are in Florida or on the Gulf are safe and sound at this hour. All of you who have friends and family in the area being targeted by the Hurricane, I hope your loved ones weather the storm. I can only imagine the trouble these storms cause. Here in Maryland we had some Cindy damage (water in my basement) and we were VERY far from the center. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the wake of Dennis.

Hi Hensy, Granbonny, and all you Kwazy Valvers Down South...LOL
