Minor Surgery

I am having ssome female minor surgery on 5/3 . I wwent to the cardiologist today and he is wanting to put in some kind off mesh filter in the groin area to prevent blood clots. Has anyone heard of this before?THey have never mentioned it with any other the surgery, so why now? I would like any input on this manner. Thanks for anyone help.

I have a friend that had clots in his leg. He had already thrown 2 off into his lungs and is lucky to be alive. They put a filter in his upper leg to catch the rest of the clots. 2 years later he is fine.

Are you taking comadin/warfarin? If so, will you have bridge therapy such as lovenox or heparin? It sounds like they are having you go off the coumadin and using the filter as precaution instead of using medicine. Interesting approach. You might call the cardio and ask.
