I've received mail order prescriptions from VA for many years.
Been no serious problems.

Recently switched to picking up a 90 day supply of warfarin from Kroger after VA cut me off Coumadin. For I wouldn't allow them to test me. Same price as Walmart, only Kroger's service is better.

this is a wee town; my pharmacist is just up the road; he was born here and everyone knows him. he'd open up on Sunday or night any time for his clients. when ya got something like that ya don't wanna switch.

For those who do mail order and get the large 90 day supply bottles, what do you do when you fly? I always keep DH and my meds in pharmacy bottles in the event of inspection. I can't risk having them confiscated because they were in weekly pill holders. The regular pharamacy size bottles take up enough room, I can't imagine being able to manage mail order size containers.

AMEN!

And, this is why I was "so against" going to the mail order originally ... loved my pharmacy. But, when they closed, I figured I'd give the mail order a try....

Sorry, I didn't see this previously.
I would have some smaller Rx containers with labels to put them in if you feel that they might be confiscated.
However, I never have had any containers confiscated, and I don't carry mine in labeled containers. I try not to check luggage, but sometimes have to when traveling with my laptop & my show cat. I have a plastic 6-compartment container for my extra warfarin, antibiotics, Tylenol, first aid items, etc. that fits into a pocket in my TravelPro. It's never been confiscated.
Of course, this has been 100% domestic travel. If I were flying out of the country, I would carry extra meds in 30-tablet labeled containers. However, with my St. Jude card & Medic-Alert braclet (and card for that, too), I'm sure that would suffice

With my insurance co, any long term med has to be through the mail-in service. After 3 months of walk-in refills they jack up the price big-time.

That's how our works, But some of my meds they aren't allowed to do thru the mail,(or more than 1 month at a time) so I still have to go to the pharmacy every month. The one problems is I am NOT very organized and the mail takes alot longer than it should to get it (usually 10 days) So I just about have to reorder as soon as you are allowed to or I miss a day or 2 (you would think I'd learn after 5 years) actually When My Mom died unexpectantly, I was hoping the meds would come before I left but of course they came the day after so I went 4 days and a long car ride, hours of standing for the viewing ect with out a couple of my back meds. BUT the reason I'm mentioning this at all (whine whine) is because I said something you my pain doc about why my back was a little worse and he said IF things like that happen you should call the doc and (usually) they can write a script for a couple days to cover you. (Of course you pay the same amount for 5 days supply as a month, but it's better than not having them)
When I call in my meds next time, I'll ask about auto refill.

We do use a mail in through our insurance. They have a reminder service by e mail when it's time to refill. No problems as of yet

Sorry I'm so late to this post

I've been getting all my prescriptions thru mail order & I find it very convenient & also cheaper. The drug company also sends me a reminder via email when it's time to reorder so that I never run short of medications.

I don't have to hassle with long lines & they are delivered directly to my door! :)

That's been our experience, too. Medco will even fax the doctor to RENEW a prescription, which Caremark didn't do.
