ugh...so Ross, with my Dad at 1.3 Tuesday night he is at high risk as I type this or is he ok since he is now on the injections (4 already) ???

Your Dad is on Lovenox - so he is as protected as he can be. The effect of Lovenox on clotting is not measured in the INR, so the 1.3 is only telling you that the Coumadin is almost out of his system. The Lovenox should keep him from forming a clot.
And a little correction: Coumadin is not a "blood thinner". Here is a quote from this Sticky http://valvereplacement.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17116
Blood thinner- Contrary to the oft heard term referring to what type of drug Coumadin is, it DOES NOT "thin" your blood. Your blood's viscosity (thickness) does not change. Thus the levels of vitamin K within the liver decrease. Reduced amounts of clotting factors VII, IX, X, and II are produced, and the clotting action of the blood is progressively impaired. The term "blood thinner" leads people to think that their blood will run out of them if they are cut. If your blood is a bottle of ketchup, adding Coumadin to it is not like adding water to it. The ketchup does not "thin out" with the addition of Coumadin. It's consistency is still the same, it just won't stick to your hamburger as easily.

No hon, he's fine so long as at least Lovenox is being used, it's just that it should have been started when his INR was at 2.0. That's why I said, maybe that was the intention, but his INR fell faster then they anticipated and by the time he was tested, it was 1.3. Now they should not stop it once it's started again until he's at least 2.0 with his INR.
