So sorry that Lotti had this set back- couldn't have been fun to go back on the ventilator, but hopefully this is the only bump in the road. Please give her our best wishes and let her know that her VR.com buddies are all thinking of her.

Setbacks

Setbacks

Setbacks do happen, but the surgeons and the skilled nursing staff do know how to handle these things.

I remember when I had my 13 ribs broken I had several setbacks, I was on the tube for about 4 days.

My surgery has been moved to Friday. I have to make sure my temp is normal for the surgery. Lots of vitamain C, lots of fluids and extra rest. I think I was stressing myself out.

Lotti when you read these messages, you will know people care about you!

We really do,

Awww hope this is the only setback she gets and she's back on the ward very soon!!!

Boy - what a double whammy! First coughing (ow! ow! ow!) so hard you have to have more surgery :)eek:   ). Lotti - when the nurses tell you to cough you're supposed to PRETEND - a genteel "cough cough" is all they ask. You're obviously an over-achiever.

I'm so sorry to hear about this; hope you're feeling much better very soon.

Sending best wishes to Lottie and hoping that she is done playing games. Tell her you don't get twice as many gifts just because you have 2 surgeries.
Seriously, hope things settle down and she can begin recovery and get home soon.

:) Lotti I'm so glad to hear you've made it through your surgery. I'm sorry to hear you had some problems but hopefully the worst is over. Be well and God Bless you and your loved ones.:)

Lotti Update 2-9-06

Hi Everyone,

This the latest from Lotti's husband. Names changed to protect
the innocent.:p

Lotti is out of ICU and in a high-dependency cardiac ward. Still with a temporary pacemaker and a chest drain, but now only having saline on an IV line. The doctors are considering a permanent pacemaker, but tonight Charlie's pulse was at a fairly steady 85 bpm, rising as high as 117 at times. This is despite the pacemaker being set at 60 bpm, so there is some evidence that her heart may be performing a rhythm of it's own.

Charlie is very low and very uncomfortable, not sleeping much and is a bit grumpy (understandable). But she is drinking water and eating small amounts, which is good news and encouraging.

I'll let her know your news tomorrow, I'm sure she will be interested and will empathise.

It's after midnight here so I'll say goodnight, and update you again tomorrow night.

All the best.

Lotti's Husband

Please tell Lotti that my mom and I are thinking of her...

Hope things go smoothly from now on..;)

and give her a big ((((cyber hug from us))))))

I'm sorry to hear that!

I'm sorry to hear that!

I've hardly been on the site and I was wondering how Lotti was getting on. Setbacks can be very annoying, but as long as everything's ok in the end, that's what matters! Say hello to her for me!! I'll continue to keep her in my prayers.

Names Changed To Protect The Innocent:) :)

Hi Cooker,

I hope you had a good weekend on the coast!

Lotti is still very tired but progressing well. The pacemaker was scheduled for implanting tomorrow (Tuesday) but has been postponed until Wednesday or Thursday because of emergency admissions. So the earliest we expect Lotti home is this coming weekend, or maybe the start of next week.

If you would like to you can send Lotti an e-greeting card using the link below. She is in Glenfield Hospital, Ward 31

I hope you are adjusting to the news of your surgery date, and Lotti's news hasn't scared you too much!

Take Care
Lotti's Husband

Hi, please tell Lotti that my Mom went into surgery the same day Lotti did and that she is now facing the decision to implant a pacemaker also because her heart rhythm is doing the same thing.. I will send her a card as I have been thinking of her also..

(((HUGS))))

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to pass on the latest on Lotti. Also, I received a short PM from her and the the computer at her hostilal had problems but it sounds like she is on the mend.

Names Changed;) :p ;)

Hi Cooker,

Lotti found that after sending you that message the mouse stopped working on her hospital TV / Internet equipment and she couldn't navigate around the site without it. She apologises for this and I will take your e-mail address to her tomorrow so she can send you a personal message.

Lotti will have the pacemaker fitted at 10:00am our time on Wednesday and is really looking forward to having all the remaining tubes and wires removed from her body following the fitting of the internal pacemaker!

She is recovering slowly but steadily and might be out at the weekend, here's hoping!

All the best for your op.

Hi Everyone,

Below is the latest from Lotti's Husband. Sounds like all is going her way now. This will be my last post on her before I go in on Monday unless I get further word today which I do not expect. I know she can't wait to post for herself.

Take care and I will see you on the other side. God Bless you all.:D

Cooker (aka Tom Presher)

"Hi Cooker,

Lotti is recovering fast now. The pacemaker took three times as long to fit as it should have as the doctor couldn't find a path through her veins for the wires. A Consultant had to be called and eventually he found a different route and fitted the pacemaker. Unfortunately they nicked a lung in the process and Lotti now has a small pocket of air in the chest cavity, but outside the lung. The lung has sealed itself and the pneumatoma is not increasing in size, so the doctors hope the air will be absorbed naturally by Lotti's body during normal activity.

She really is much stronger now and will be discharged on Monday or Tuesday once she has finished a course of anti-biotics.

I wish you a safe and speedy stay in hospital and a successful operation without any subsequent problems. Good Luck Cooker!

All The Best
Lotti's Husband and Lotti"

Lotti sounds like she's recovering much more rapidly, and that's great news.

Thanks for the update and we wish you an uneventful and safe journery to the other side of the mountain!

Hello Everyone,

Received a PM from Lotti a few minutes ago and she sounded very upbeat:D
She is using the system at the hospital and it does not work well all of the time. She should be going home soon. I suspect the next word on her will be from her! She has had a tough time and really appreciates evryones prayers and thoughts. Continue to lift her and her family up.

Thanks,
