Lorraine will have her aortic and mitral valves replaced on Monday after a delay of surgery. We wish her the very best of surgeries and an uneventful recovery and look forward to hearing all good news from her daughter Katie. Godspeed!

I'm glad I was able to post my well wishes before we leave on vacation. I imagine that by the time I return home, you will be well on your way to recovery.
Best wishes and Godspeed

I wish her the best of luck & a quick recovery. What type of valves are they implanting & where is her surgery scheduled at?

I also have an artificial mitral & aortic valve. One is a St. Jude (aortic) & the mitral valve is a "cooley-cutter" valve named after Dr. Denton Cooley. I had the aortic valve re-replaced last year in March/2006.

I'll be praying for her & waiting to hear how she is doing! God Bless!

Thank you so much for all of the good thoughts, kind words, and prayers. To answer your question, njean, mom is having the surgery at NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Her surgeon is Dr. Karl Krieger. We are not totally sure yet what valves she will be getting- we are almost definite that they are going to be mechanical, but she is not sure whether to go with the St. Judes or the On-X. My mom has decided that she will go with whichever one Dr. Krieger has more experience with (I'm assuming that will be St. Judes). I think she should get the 'variety pack' and do one of each. Just kidding. Jeez I can't wait till this surgery is over. I am ready to be taking some slow walks and giving some back and shoulder rubs to my post-op, ticking mom.

Glad to hear that all is moving forward now, Katie--I'll be thinking of your mom and looking forward to reading that everything went beautifully. Yay for NY Presb!! :D Keep a journal; you'll want it later when you're ready to publish your memoirs. ;)

All good thoughts your way....

Best, Sona

Wayne says it so well - that trip over the mountain is tough going up but once on the other side it's a smooth slide down to get your feet on the ground. The journey is almost over and I'm sure we'll hear of a great success surgery shortly. My prayers are with you.
