Looking for those who have had mini sternotomy

Hi. Am going in 2-9-12 - for Avr - st Louis. Am in good shape - yada yada. Mid 60- s. female & great Attitude. Frankly more nervous about cath before than procedure. But am eager to talk with some one who had mini for Avr vs full. Is there a dif ?? Et c. Etc. have been told recovery might be a tad quicker

I did not have a sternotomy, but a small thoracotomy, incision between 2 ribs a few inches down from the collar bone on the right side of my chest. It allowed me to drive 2 weeks post-op and I did not have any of the back or shoulder plans that most people here mention after surgery. I would say my pain level after surgery, on a scale, of 1-10 was about a 2.
