You may want to assign hours to how long to the moderator needs to be one. Sometime the chat sessions can go over 3 hours. That's a long time for someone to commit to moderating.

Ross, if you haven't been given the keys to the corporate washroom yet, I wouldn't hold my breath for the corporate jet.

I'll do it if you are still looking. It would be good to know who will cover when, tho, in case someone can't be on for a certain night. I have moderated on a forum before.

This is because you are so afraid you will miss it when someone finally posts a picture of themselves in a bikini. Don't try to make it sound like the long hours are totally self-less!!!!!!!

In other words, no schedule for me... I am always willing to alert you when I see something untoward, as you know.
As I think about it, we are not guarding the Hope Diamond or the President of the United States! It's a chat room, open 24 hours a day. When I first encountered the Troll, it was in the afternoon on Tuesday last. 24/7=a whole lot of monitoring!!! You know, if we encounter another troublemaker like the last one, we could just plain ignore him....JimL suggested this.

Blanche you bring up a good point. This is not a schedule type thing except Sundays and that's pretty well taken care of as is. No, your not guarding the Hope diamond or the corporate aircraft or yacht (Probably should though, there are still some shady characters in here), so the chances of encountering troubles are very very small. I'm not asking anyone to sign their life away to it nor to feel that the MUST be there. It's only as back up to the two that I have plus Hank and myself. Looks like I have 3 possibilities here. Anyone else?
If I can take a ride on the corporate yacht, I'll guard it!!!

First, let me say... when we had the old chat..about 3 years ago. I always posted on Sat...Remember Sunday Night chat...We always had 10-15 older members on....then, when we changed to new chat..had so many new members..that came on..that I felt it was not necessary to remind members...........Sunday night chat is FUN...members tell about their weekly doings, new Grandkids, ect....Trips planned..or ones that they just got back from........Now, in the last year, if a newbie comes on..and we don't recongize their names..will ask..what is your User name...on VR.Com..they always tell us..and we slow down to welcome them...and let them post....about their surgery, ect. We always help them out.......this is the first time in 3 years that I can remember someone chatting, typing fast, insulting people, ect.......so, I feel ..like this is really just something that happened Sunday night and he caught us..off guard....the nicer we were to him....he was ready for an insult....so, point being?...i don't worry about others coming on....like him. Now, I am just talking about Sunday night chat..when we can start at 5 P.M. Eastern time..to give the Over the Pond members to chat..until ??? All Sunday Night chatters are old timers..don't know about during the week?..........I would think that if one goes into chat room during the week..to be prepared for BOTS...If so, just leave...don't feed them......I will report to you if Mary ..misbehaves on Sunday nights. I know how to drop the hammer on Obnoxious people....You have enough decent people posting here that you could make quite a few "moderators" unless this particular chat program has a limited amount.
