I receive news by email daily from local radio station WGTX in DeFuniak Springs, Fl. and in today's found this and it's scary! So if you want to protest, the recommendations are at the bottom. This isn't a joke nor one of those internet rumors. Check it out for yourselves.

Your past, present and future private medical records could become open to the federal government, data processing companies, insurers, hospitals, doctors and others without your consent, beginning October 15th.

According to Jim Pyles, an attorney representing the American Psychoanalytic Association, beginning October 15th of this year, your existing medical records, information that you had previously given consent for, will become open to many others. According to Pyles, the revised federal medical privacy rule that most providers must fully comply with by April 14, 2003 will actually permit the disclosure of individuals personal health information as early as October 15th, less that two months away. According to Pyles, you have three options.
1) Get an attorney to file a lawsuit calling for a temporary injunction to stop the rule from taking effect.
2) Ask your congressman to pass emergency legislation to stop the release of your medical records.
3) Ask President Bush to sign an executive order to immediately overturn the revised federal medical privacy rule.
