Don't do this.....I ran the Livestrong 1/2 today without enough training and no long runs since October in Baltimore with Cardiac Athletes, I finished Baltimore in 2:03. BUT, I finished today, I knew I would walk part of the course as the last 3 miles are all hills and they are steep.
I registered my husband and I last fall for the Livestrong Half Marathon. Since Baltimore, I have not put in any decent mileage, last week a total of 9 miles and 5 miles of walking! I kept going back and forth all last week, do I run or not. Well, we went and picked up our packets yesterday and I saw this great commemorative that I really wanted for my office wall at work. It will have my bib, my finisher's medal, a place for my pic, so we committed. The finishers medal is beautiful! We run for those after all, forget the rest.
The weather was awesome, low humidity, 40 degrees, no wind. The crowds were great, huge turnout all along the route and bands. At one church, some ladies from the choir were singing for runners. If you are familiar with Austin, you know the hills, the race starts behind the capital and winds around to Congress where it's all uphill from Riverside to the 290 access road, all downhill on First Street, then winding roads into town with rolling hills. The last three miles were significant hills. I did ok overall, just my feet and IT bands bothered me to my having to walk and run off and on from about the 10 mile mark.
So, official results: 2:22:49.
