Lisinopril side effect question

When I was first diagnosed with mitral and aortic valve regurgitation 12 years ago they put me on lisinopril. I had the throat symptoms and they seemed to be getting worse.....then I got a bad case of hives! Now lisinopril is on my allergy list. The doc switched me to cozaar. Only problem with that one is that it is not a generic, so is more expensive....depending on your insurance.

After my OHS last January the cozaar was discontinued. I am now on low dose of metoprolol.

Lisinopril can raise potassium levels so be sure to have it checked from time to time. High postassium can be as big a problem as low.

What about vitamin D? Doc said something about wanting to check the vit d levels but I couldn't get him to explain why...

I was on 20mg lisinopril 1xday for 10 years for MV prolapse and had no side effects. Got dizzy when it was bumped up to 40mg so we went back to 20 mg.
