"You know J.R. is making deals" __ Hank Williams Jr __ 'This Ain't Dallas'

~2 months ago, I was ~110 pounds b/c of not eating or sleeping. Still not sleeping, but starting to eat. With that, I've had a bit more energy (& 'fight') to start working on some projects & found this note written by a friend ~9 years ago:
"My friend, if I could give you one gift, I would give you the ability to see yourself as others see you. Then you would realize what a truly special person you are."

Made me smile, but my hunch is most of us can't see ourselves the way others seem to.... "Tough times" make that harder. While family & friends are discussing engagements, kids, pets, classic car season, gatherings & events, home & car purchases, adventures, opportunities, etc., I'm watching my "glass floor" shatter.... Fun times ... NOT!

On the plus side, part of my new-found energy is my facebook page ... OLD CARS, STRONG HEARTS. A friend wrote this about it:
"Kinda feels like hangin' out at Al's Diner from Happy Days. Music, cars; I guess that makes you Fonzie!"

People keep asking what they can do to help; well, something easy & no-cost for those on facebook ... "like" the page & have fun with it!
https://www.facebook.com/OldCarsStrongHearts

Nephew & Niece are doing just fine. Nephew told his Mom (my sister) recently, "I hope I get to see Uncle Cort today!" Niece is almost 4 months old ... ALREADY!

So, how about you?

I'm doing as fine as I can, Cort. I'm just back to work (part-time) after having a small hernia repaired last Friday. This "getting old" thing ain't for sissies.

Check your email. I forwarded to you an email with some job postings in communications. Might be worth a look. Call me if you can't get the links to work or can't find the jobs I'm talking about.

Heck, call me anyway. Maybe we can do lunch while I'm on short hours.

No, it sure isn't........ Glad you are back to work PT. Hope the hernia repair was successful, Steve!

Oh, that sounds like a plan. Sometime early next week, perhaps?

Life is good .... no gripes on my end:thumbup:

Good for you, Cooker! :)

Life has no pause button & regret is built upon untaken chances ... partly why I started my OLD CARS, STRONG HEARTS facebook page.

What momentarily takes away the sting of consequences for choices made & broken promises, commitments, loyalty? A 4-month-old grinning big for you &/or a 4-year-old burying you in stuffed animals! I took this pic of my Nephew & Niece earlier this month:

At the end of February, I served as a juror in Kane (IL) County. I had fun; it was cool to finally be IN a trial, vs. being called & dismissed twice before. The "Trial By Jury" video we saw the 1st day was ssssooo 1980s, complete with narrator Floyd Brown (original voice of the Victory Auto Wreckers commercial).

Since the end of January, I've managed Autosavant's facebook page on a trial-run basis:
https://www.facebook.com/autosavant

They want me to stay past March 31; I haven't decided yet. The site's focus is newer cars:

I enjoyed this parody, done by Kevin Gordon for a series he films for Autosavant:

Life would be better if the weather would cooperate. We had snow flurries overnight, a possible big snow/sleet event is forecast for Sunday. And it's COLD! I need some sunshine to clear the cobwebs out of my brain. A good spring cleaning is in order!:tongue2:

In the rough at the moment. Since Xmas 2012 -father has had a stroke,I need my aortic root replacing and a very close aunt has breast cancer. On the plus side we are all this side of the sod so we cannot be too bad and once it stops snowing the daffodils will be dancing again.

Hi Cort!
Well, everyone should be headed to Oregon (Willamette Valley, anyway) -- spring is popping out all over!! Daffodils, plum-tree blossoms, little leaf buds on all the deciduous trees giving that nice tease of color.
I'm very good! Just threw a successful party for my 90 year old mother (rented a room, lunch buffet, violin/flute/cello, magician! people from all over flew in -- even her 90 year old friend from the 6th grade). Simple thing, but oh! when my daughter ever gets married it's gonna be all about hiring a wedding planner! Event planning is not my forte! The only sad thing that's happened was last September was that we lost our beloved 12 year old dog -- but we did get him on one last road trip to SFO and he loved it (there's just something about a good road trip, eh?). We felt SO alone that we recently got another Cairn Terrier -- at 9 months old (one of those things that just kinda happened -- the dog chose us!) -- sharing him with the breeder for awhile (she wants to show him). Very different kind of experience. He's a love. But he's chewing up everything!!!
Best wishes to everyone.
Marguerite

Hey Duffy, you must be close to my neck of the woods, I am in MO and we had little bit of snow Friday, did not start again till 4:00 pm Saturday and continued till Sunday, when it slowed down, but still coming down. When we had that double snowstorm not too long ago, people back east was laughing at us till the got slammed several times for a week. Be glad when it is really spring and can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and warm air. Hugs for today.

I had my second OHS to replace my aortic valve destroyed by endocarditis. It trash the root also. They used a cadaver root and valve called a homograph. It's been pumping away for two years and my docs say I have a normal life expectancy!
Good Luck my Man! Take it as it comes and trust your docs! Don't worry. There is 0 sense in that. If you die on the table you'll never know. It's actually sort of harder to come through it alive when you think about it.
Just like most medical stuff, the anticipation is way worse than the actual procedure(s). Call all your friends and family. Ask for their support. You'll need it!

Cort - How about next week on Wednesday or Thursday? I have doctors' appointments on Monday and Tuesday, and our office is closed on Friday.

I'm sorry I didn't see this until now, Steve. If you have time this week, call me, please! :)

...and ya'll just had tornadoes last week, too! The street in Hazelwood is the home to some friends from Route 66. They are OK, as is their house, albeit with $8,000 in damages....

Glad you are well, Marguerite!!! Wish I could road trip again, but probably not going to happen. I was in Oregon in 2011, though....
