Lets talk about this "Mountain"

I dunno, I'm not too sure this "mountain" thing is very saintly....

Personally, I never thought of it as climbing a mountain, more like climbing out from a VERY deep hole with slippery walls that kinda got a lot deeper after I had surgery, but that's just me. =)

The case for Mt. St. Hellandback.

The case for Mt. St. Hellandback.

Not to toot my own horn...

Um, well, OK, yes, to toot my own horn (and Les' horn, since all I did was add the "Saint") ;) :

The case for Mt. St. Hellandback:

1) It's a pun on the name of an existing mountain, Mt St. Helen. (Mt. NeverRest is just as good on this criteria).

2) Mt. St. Hellen is volcanic, which means it has to deal with circulation of liquid and buildup of pressure.

3) Mt. St. Helen has a HUGE "scar" on one side, and the scar is vaguely heart-shaped. Actually, the whole mountain looks remarkably like the one pictured on fyrfytr's pillow.

4) Mt. St. Helen is currently in a long, but remarkable "recovery" which shows astounding and unexpected results.

5) I'm not anywhere near an authority on saints (though I am a Catholic), but I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them has been to (or through) hell and come back and I'm certain that many of them weren't originally very saintly (one might even go so far as to call some of them "hell raisers")...

6) It's a group effort, well, at least, it Les' and my effort.

Do I smell an upcoming poll? :p

I had this whole long post about how I was lutheran but went to a catholic grade school where I learned maybe two things about saints and had repressed memories of being an "infidel" in the eyes of the catholic nuns and then went into this thing about subtlety in the nomination for "Mt. Tohelenbach" and it was all deep and profound and aw inspiring and then my three year old son hit something on the keyboard and all kinds of crazy things started happening and now it's all gone.....

Oh well. =Þ

I actually like Mt St. Hellandback

myself, as far as a general term for "THE MOUNTAIN" and dwfreck, you make a great case for it. I just think we all might have a name for our individual mountains as well.

As I said in my Reunion song, "Each has climbed our own mountain, some steeper than others." (I know Ross's mountain was MUCH steeper than mine for example), and not being able to rest is what I remember most about my own ordeal. That's why I chose Mt. Never-Rest. ( I was also trying to be clever) :D

In fact, one day they made me walk on the treadmill, and I was so tired I was walking with my eyes closed. The nurse told this other lady to "keep an eye on me" to make sure I didn't go to sleep while I was on the treadmill. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. I know you have to get up and walk, but I wasn't having any problems with walking or climbing stairs etc.. I was just plain too tired, and thought that SLEEP would have done me a whole helluvalot more good at the time.

Nope sorry, Hellandback it was. You should never expect to rest at all for any of these things. It's simply not part of the plan. If I keep going, I'll soon be eligible to conduct tours.

OK, I guess I'll just call my own experience "The Big Sleep" since that what more than half of it was, a 5 week long nap....

Hmmm...

The more I think about Mt. NeverRest, the more I like it (probably because I hate to give up on a pun, whether it's mine or not). I also like the idea of everyone having their own "mountain", so maybe we should be considering a whole mountain range...

How about The Himalllaidout Mountains? With Mt. St. Hellandback and Mt. NeverRest as prominent peaks in the range?

I'm open to more range suggestions (especially if they're puns of existing ranges :p ), considering that Himalllaidout is somewhat gender biased  .

Sounds somewhat similar to a mountain range in Asia - the Him-a-layin's :D ? I believe Mount Never-Rest is part of that range. . .tallest mountain in the world! (Of course, for those of us with good sleeping pills, that mountain turns into Mt. EverRest).

Putting in my worthless two cents (I'll use Canadian pennies for this one) on "Mt. Stillnotdeadyet"

Ok, maybe that's kinda tacky and a bit morbid and all, but hey, I'm sick (caught a cold) and I'm tired and I'm bored out of my mind (waiting for my wife to finish up here at work) and I've been killing time trying to find an email address for Dr. Roger Mee at hte Cleveland Clinic...

I MIGHT have a business card at home for him, or maybe one of his secretaries...

Did I mention the cold???

Would kill for a shot of NyQuil right now, but then, that might just kill me so no.

"I climbed Mt. Hellanback"... we need that on a t-shirt!

I?m glad ya all were kind enough to leave my Rocky Mountain Range (home of the Continental Divide) out of this! :p

So we've named the mountain, we have our 2004 theme, our mascot, and our theme song. Is there anything I've missed?? Has a name been attached to that truck? All I remember seeing was the license plate...Big red bold letters.... "HEARTFAILURE"

I need this info for the vr.com photo album I'll be bringing to the next reunion.

Aw c'mon Rain. We've developed a whole range of bad-pun mountain names, surely you could add a punned peak from the Rockies?

My family thinks I'M the king of bad puns, but you guys/girls take the prize!

You crack me up.

All the literature about fluid in the lungs and coughing it up afterwards made me think about the aptly named "Mt. Wannahockaloogie" from Finding Nemo.

Harpoon, I think they need to adjust your medication.

"Mt. St. Hell-on-yer-back"

Kim <-- picking out her caribiners

I'd say that the FIRST mountain I trekked over would be Mt. Never rest, since the docs thought it was fun to wake me up every 1/2 an hour to make sure I was still breathing and to take blood, to see if I needed to pee, etc...

The second one would be Mt. Saint Sleeps A Lot! Anything could make me sleep. The truck would be named MadaamChestCracker. Yup. My brother used to call me"MadaamSister." Get it? Ha Ha, very funny!
