Just curious ... how do you react "extra long" posts ... I find myself brushing them off ... there maybe one or two items I could comment on and maybe be of help on but I don't have the time to wade through paragraph after paragraph of "information" that is better suited for a blog ....

Your thoughts?

I like most things short and sweet . . . obviously chimps are short but how about sweet, Cooker? Seriously, I sometimes lose my focus when reading a very long post, with supporting links, containing information that has been presented before.

I like em relatively short too unless there's a lot of good info. Some people are particularly long winded and I just don't have the energy to sift through the wind...

oops , sorry my bad. I know my posts are probably hard to read, I probably should make little replies to each post instead of waiting til the end and making one longer posts, plus I still stink at computer stuff so dont know how to break up quotes, even tho lots of very patient people have tried to teach me over the years (including Mary, Ross and poor Justin.) I'm sure the fact the "T" doesnt work well on my laptop and I type with 2 fingers makes people want to pull out their hair when I ramble on...and on and onnn...oops better stop this now..I'll try to do better, but I AM now 54 so hopefully I'm not too old a dog to learn

ps sometimes I laugh when I hit the "post quick reply" button

If I have the time, I don't mind reading a longer post especially if it is necessary to give a full, clear and accurate picture. Unfortunately, on the days that I am very busy and just 'skimming' the forum those posts may not get my undivided attention.

Having said that...

IF I personally relate to the information on the post, I am more likely to read the whole thing. i.e. any information for those with aneurysms.

I may be different from others, but I really like the 'research' based information. Perhaps, it is because I have a science background and am analytical.

my thoughts are that if the person asking the question gets their questions (often long) answered then that's the most important thing. Perhaps the people asking the questions should be the judge?

I was thinking the same thing. When I post a question or query, I am so happy to receive replies and input. A respnse to my own query can never be too long.:) I am most appreciative of the time and energy that goes into the reply whether long or short. Sometimes the answer isn't straightforward and this requires a longer response. As we are all different, our preferences will be too.

Remember, a Chimp has a short attention span. :tongue2: Write what you think needs to be written to convey the information or point. Some will read, some won't. That's the way of the world.

I find myself just scanning a very long post and usually not reading the whole thing, especially if it comes from a poster that hasn't had OHS.
After all, a quick reply should be just that. It's not that I'm too dumb to read it and get it, it just seems that the point could be made with fewer words!

Well said Gail  :

Count me in the minority of people who like the longer posts. Maybe it's a newbie thing, since I'm still gathering lots of information. But I agree with Superbob:
