Hi Betty,
I just sent you a PM.. Gina to answer your question. The mesurement range for mitral valvuloplasty is usually between 1.-1.5, below that they usually just go for replacement and above it doesn't usually have an effect on the symptoms. You cannot have more than trace MR (no matter what the valve area) because a valvuloplasty will just make it worse. That is what happened to me, I was right at 1 and after only one inflation of the balloon they had to stop because the valve started to leak more.

Hey Betty,
Best of Luck, you will be surprised at how well you will be feeling after the surgery. The 21st of this month will be 3 months since my surgery and I am amazed at how much better I feel. You will notice an improvement each day. You are in our prayers. Keep us up to date on how things are going.
