Thought I'd start a new thread so the updates weren't so far down the threads.

i always feel like I need to apologize for my few posts. I know you each undrstand but I have been where you are waiting in the internet waiting room waiting for some news of some child I have learned to care about deeply, so I thank you for you patiece and understanding.

Andrew had a little respitory distress this morning and his doctors had to do some bagging and ventilator adjustments and "things" to get him out of it. He had a couple chest tubes put in to relieve some air out of the chest cavity also.

Andrew is totally sedated and paralized to keep him from getting too anxious and from fighting the vent. He was making things worse for himself and was quite uncomfortable with his vent. He has been doing better since these changes have been made.

He is back on dialysis and is still producing a small amount of urine. He is quite swollen but he looks less yellow to me and his billirubin is down some. Platelets continue to climb and that is all I can think of on that line.

I don't think I have mentioned on his care page that Andrew's brother Nathan broke his collar bone on Monday as well, and visited the same clinic Andrew first went to. Quite a trip it's been for all involved.

Andrew was flown over here to Fargo, ND and a dear friend Joy was able to fly over with him. That was such a comfort to me that she was allowed to go with him and stay with him through the whole thing. she was awesome and kept calling us and keeping us informed and comforted as we drove from Chicago to Fargo.

Last I heard the tenative plan is to fly out tomorrow morning, so we will see. I was going to go in and see him after grabbing some dinner but he was having a new arterial line put in. They must be done by now but I spent some time on the phone catching up some friends and family.

Well that is about it for now. Andrew is quiet and of course very sedated. Keep praying for a good night and for safety on the plane and also that nothing happens that would keep me from being able to fly out with him. Thank you everyone! Your words of encouragement mean so much. I do read them everytime I have a chance to visit. Keep up your prayers.

In Christ's loving hands,
Wendy

Thanks Karlynn, Poor Wendy, I can't imagine how that long car ride must have been, and Nathan breaking his collar bone, those boys sure keep her on her toes. I am saying so many prayers. Wendy was one of the first people I "met" online when we got a computer,we've been thru lot and their families faith always amazes me. I pray they get to Chicago tomorrow and Andrew has a better day. Lyn

Continued prayers for Andrew, Wendy and family...

Andrews day struggling with the vent and being sedated reminds me how worriesome this is for families. I had the same troubles as Andrew with the vent and my family were very distressed for days. It sounds like he is as drugged-up as I was, this is a good thing, Andrew will have no bad memories of any troubles he had. I pray he gets well soon.

Keep talking to him Wendy, he can hear you but just cant respond...

Thanks so much for the update....

Continued thoughts and strength for Andrew and your family! I hope Nathan will heal quickly too!
All the best

Some complications arose during the night.

Well we are staying on a bit longer. Andrew coded twice last night which as you know is very stressful. He had a couple issues that were making it hard to ventilate him. He received cpr and his defribulator went off three times perhaps more. He had his ET tube replaced and he has been doing much better since that.

He looks surprisingly good to me for having gone through all that just a few hours ago. It all started around 12AM? That is a total guess but Randy had headed over to the Ronald McDonald House and we had a hard time getting him to wake up to let him know he was needed.

The team was awesome and really worked together to bring this latest crisis to an end. I just tried to stay out of the way and prayed and prayed for andrew for the doctors and nurses, for wisdom and for god's will. I did remind Him I personally would like him around a while longer but I trust Him to make the right decision concerning my son. I had a lot of peace through the stress and know only God could give me the strength to go through that.

I am really hoping the tube change will be something that will make things easier for Andrew. He of course is still extremely sick but I know if God wants he can overcome this illness as well.

Thank you for your continued prayers and your words of care.

heart hugs,
Wendy and Randy

Things have remained very uneventful today. Praise God! I have heard encouraging things from the infectios disease doctor that the bacteria is going down in his blood stream. His labs are all looking a little better and his heart rate and blood pressures are staying stable.

We are keeping him very sedated and paralysized so he won't work against the vent. His liver enzymes have improved but he has a very long way to go with many things. He will need to be on antibiotics for several more weeks.

Keep praying for God's perfect will for him. I am encouraged but not unrealistic. God can do what He wishes and if he wants him to recover will do that and if not then He truely knows what is best.

heart hugs and prayers,
wendy

Its your turn Wendy for a miracle for Andrew...hopefully that scare was the worst of it...it brings tears to my eyes 'cos it reminds me that I survived the exact same thing. I'm sure Andrew is a strong-willed young man and will come through this unharmed.
Meanwhile our super VR.com prayers will continue...

God Bless you all

Wendy, first I want you to know that Andrew and your entire family will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Secondly, I want you to know that your faith and trust in God is a real blessing and witness to others. I know God has all of you in the palm of His hand. LINDA
