Las Vegas for the yearly reunion?

I was going to wait until Golden. CO, to bring this up, but I might as well bite the bullit right now.
How about making it affordable for everyone to attend the reunion?
I personally have been to a few and found them to be a lot of fun. I have not been to all of them.
But a reunion can be quite a financial burden for many people, and this has been disclosed to me by several other members as well. Reunions don't come cheap and are very heavy on the pocket book. (Chicago, Nashville, SAT, Scottsdale)
The one reunion we had that was really affordable was the one in Las Vegas, and I believe "ANYONE" from "ANYWHERE" can get deals to Vegas "ANYTIME", even our members across the ocean. I know several that would "love" to come and are watching the airfares to Denver right now, but cannot afford it. (over $800.00 p.p.)
Las Vegas is a great choice for 3 - 4 days, with lots of stuff going on at all hours. No one will ever be bored in Vegas. And most of us don't gamble, so it needn't be expensive. Breakfasts are often 2/1, Lunches and dinners don't have to be expensive either. There are inexpensive shows, some of them free, just have to buy a drink. All of the hotels have freebies/booklets when you check in.
Hank, how about having our yearly reunion in Las Vegas but at different, affordable hotels? Most of us stayed at the Lady Luck last time and it was a great choice. The best bed I've ever slept in when sleeping in a hotel. For example, this summer the rates are $19.99 per night. Unbelievable!!!!
How about giving everyone the opportunity to attend the reunion?
Can we have a vote?

PS.. This does not mean we should change anything that is being planned for this year in Golden CO. :) :) :)

What happened to the original thread where I had responded? In any case.....I would not be interested in visiting Vegas on a yearly basis. Just spent 3 days there and could not wait to leave. Anyone that is flying from any other location other than the west coast will have the air fare issue.

I feel the group rooms rates we had in Nashville and Chicago were very reasonable. Especially for an atrium type arrangement where meeting space is free. Anything between $89-$99 is pretty much standard. With notice there is a year to budjet for the reunion. Just like a vacation. If it is on the top of the priority list and you can swing it....done deal :)

This thread was a great idea. I feel everyone should have their opinion. Might make it easier for Hank to make future decisions :)

PS.Having the next reunion in OH would be nice for many reasons. To give Ross an opportunity to attend. #2 give some of the other folks in that area some options as well. Maybe something with CCF could be set up for guest speakers! At this point.....let's try and focus on Denver! Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Okay! Okay! I'll say it again on this thread. How about Vegas every third year. Guess I was impressed because I never had been there before. I liked the Strip but I really liked staying downtown better.

Gina, I was thinking the same thing. I saw your post earlier, and then it wasn't there. Hmmm!

I thought the room rates in Chicago and Nashville were reasonable.

I do agree we need to have one in Ohio. Ross has got to be able to be attend one as well as others in that area. Right now though, I too am concentrating on Denver! It's going to be great!
