The kids saw the cardio the other day, he did an ekg and echo, the answer?

They are both normal and healthy!
:D :D

So not only were my wife and I lucky enough that they got her intelligence but they also got her good heart!

Thanks all.

Yes, it's good news that we are very happy about and one less thing for my wife to be angry at me about. :D

Ross, even though everything looked good the doc recommends that they be brought back in at 15 to get checked again. He said he would no longer be in practice but we should be able to find someone else almost as competent. :p

He said that based on his experience and the results of the tests (he was in the room for the echo and made them look where he wanted) that they are normal, but, with the strong link in families it would be safe to have them checked again and if there was a time to see anything it would be at 15. The other thing that he said was if they did have a BAV it would increase later generations chances of having it.

Cooker - I would like to thank my wife and my kids for helping me achieve this momentous award...;)

Good. I was thinking along the lines of 15 to 16 and check again. Hopefully by then, if all is still well, nothing will show in the future.

Great news David! I'm sure this is just one of the few things about yourself that you're glad they didn't inherit.

Wonderful news. Its all in a roll of the dice I guess. I am so pleased for you all, no amount of money can buy such peace of mind.

Excellent news! I really wish every family with the BAV situation could have a doctor like yours--informed and up-to-date, ready and able to perform the necessary tests without a fight. As time goes by, I'm sure more drs will be in the know and more families getting the tests they need. In our case, my husband and younger son both turned up with big asc. aortas after their screening echos. Hopefully those aortas will remain stable, but we will be on a checkup schedule and aware, if and when something needs to be done. I'm so glad things turned out well for you.

Sometimes my husband tells people that our handsome sons got their good looks from their mother...because he still has his...   !!!

Glad things look well for your boys.

This is excellent news...I am glad you have a smart Doc who knows these things are heritable...I agree that was very commendable of him to recommend a re-scan at 15yrs.

Well done on keeping your special BAV gene to yourself and not sharing with your kids!:)

Ah, I guess I did miss it. EXCELLENT NEWS!!! Really. What a relief!!! I'm so glad.....I know you will relax about all this for awhile now.

Lucky you have such a fine doctor with good recommendations.

:) Marguerite
