Well, I'm sitting here staring at the computer, in a very quiet apartment. Pretty much what I do every day since my doctor said no more working. My apartment is very dark and it's easy for me to get a little depressed during the day, so I opened the front door to let some light in. What I also let in is some of the summer sounds I love to hear. Listening to it has brought back all kinds of memories of my childhood and reminded me of how much I love the summer. Fresh cut grass, hot sun, the sound of cicadas, grasshoppers, and crickets, t-shirts and shorts, running barefoot......... I love all these things and will never stop enjoying them just because my doctors tell me I need a new heart and lungs.

I'm very fortunate and happy to be able to enjoy these things and feel very blessed to have someone to share this with.

Thank you everyone for you support and kindness,
Lora

Strange you should bring that up now. I was sitting outside just a little bit ago doing almost exactly the samething. My grandkids (Kittens) were chasing a couple of lightning bugs and I asked them if they wanted me to get a jar to put them in. Of course, they were more interested in swatting them with their paws.

We're just now starting to get Cicadas doing their thing in the trees. I love early evening when I can listen to the tree peepers. Now you got me going!

All the beauty that surrounds us often goes unnoticed by most people. It certainly is nice to be able to enjoy the surroundings, sounds, and memories that they bring. :)

I love all those sounds. They are the last "Great Escape" from the cacophony of our hectic lives..............

I LOVE kittens. Makes me wish I were at my parents house right now playing with theirs. I have a cat, but she is so big and lazy, all she does is sleep and eat and visit her potty.

Also makes me wish I were 11 or 12 playing on squares of hay and letting puppies chase me around the yard. *sigh* Oh well, I'll get as much out of looking out my front door and listening as I can. Kinda makes me want to take a nap out in the sun.

I am so glad to see that you appreciate the little things that God has given us. Hope you are around often.

Good morning everyone, this is only the second time I've joined you. I thought I'd let you know it's a beautiful morning and I have one of my rabbits, Dandelion, running around in the garden. I'm wondering if I'll ever get back to work, it's been three months since my valve op and my stroke.
I decided last night that I need some relief to the boredom of having been home since January - so as it's mine and hubbie's 50th birthdays next June, I thought I'd start trying to organise a party for us, before someone else in the family does!! (as happened on our 40th's) It will be something for me to aim for.
I have my check up with the surgeon next week, I'm feeling ok but still get very tired (I'm told that's the stroke, my brain trying to heal itself - at least I have confirmation that I have a brain, contrary to popular belief. I've been going to rehab exercises, I'm the youngest and skinniest there. No-one else can quite believe my medical history.
Anyway, back to the party. I thought I'd get a local magician in - he does adult parties, I've only seen his children's ones, they're excellent. He does weird things with balloons, he's hilarious and I'm sure my friends and family will all be entertained, even my mum! I also thought about getting a local folk band in, our vet plays fiddle, seeings, believing!!
If anyone has any party ideas, I'm open to offers.
Love the site and the interesting people.

Hi Bev

Hi Bev

I love your island. I visited there with my Auntie and sister a couple of summers ago. We stayed in the convent with the nuns as my Auntie is also a nun [in San Antonio, TX]. We have an 'ancestor' nun who lived there [Isle of Wight] for some time. The view of East Cowes from the convent was unbelieveable!

I can just imagine Dandelion running around your garden. Oh, those gorgeous gardens!

Happy birthday planning and glad to hear you are doing well.

Oooooooh!

Oooooooh!

Well, gardens are nice, but I just wuv the bunnies! We often have wild ones wander through our yard, and they're so cute, especially the little ones. Enjoy the bunnies for me, too!

My how life changes, but we are so lucky to have been given a second chance,

For all those who are waiting hang in there, your time will come
