Well...............

Well...............

you have made me laugh, and you have made me cry. Once again, I am both humbled and overwhelmed by all of your responses. I had the luxury of reading most of your posts (except for you fellow hoot owls) right before the MAW ladies showed up. It was so comforting to go into that knowing you guys were rallying us on.

The wheels are in motion, but that is all we know at this point. One of the MAW ladies cornered Don and I and then proceeded to inundate us with all the paperwork - sheesh! I almost felt like I was re-elisting in the military - 20 pages of forms. The other MAW rep played with Katie and interrogated her about her wish, what she liked, etc. Katie, quickly realizing that she was the center of attention and that this wretched woman was all hers to abuse at will, was true to form. She made the poor woman read her favorite book Nightmare in the Closet and afterwards draw pictures of "Nightmare." She then had the woman play K-9, while Katie was Marvin. She then performed her rendition of the Sponge Bob Christmas theme song. Next, it was Princess time. Katie donned her purple Princess gown and purple sequinned slippers. Since the poor MAW lady was too big for a princess gown, Katie adorned her in purple necklaces, rings, and a purple feather boa! (I wanted to break out the camera so badly I could taste it.) Finally, the rep managed to squeeze Katie's answers out of her.

First wish: For Lola Bunny - Bugs Bunny's girlfriend - to come to life (this is Katie's imaginary friend this week)

Second wish: To become a real lion

Third wish: Disney World ...............sigh! No Brad Pitt in here anywhere!

Under the assumption that the first two wishes probably are not going to be a "go," we filled out the travel paperwork involved for Disney World. The snag is this. We are wanting to go March 5-13 (my spring break week so I can save my personal leave days for Katie's surgery). The processing of a wish ordinarily takes two months. They are jumping through hoops to make this happen, but the resort that MAW uses in Orlando (Give Kids the World) is already booked solid that week. MAW is going to see what sort of alternative accommodations they can come up with. If they are acceptable, we will go. If not, then we will simply hold off on Katie's wish until a later date.

Regardless, we will go to Disney World. IF MAW can make it happen, then we will use Katie's wish. If not, then it just wasn't meant to be, and we will bite the bullet and pay for it ourselves. I can honestly say that I feel a great sense of peace about this (Disney World, not Katie's surgery! ) now, and I truly have y'all to thank. I did not feel this way last night - duh! obviously! or earlier today. I can only attribute this peacefulness to your love and support and in relinquishing this to God's will.

So, see! YOu guys didn't decide this for me, but your input sure helped a whole lot. I actually think I can go in and go to sleep now. I sure hope I have Gina's dream that she had last night! Think I will print out Karlyn's picture of the God's Gift Guys to put under my pillow - and tell me true, Karlyn! One hand was flashing my wedding ring to these guys...........was my other hand wiping the drool off of my chin? :D

Love you guys and thanks loads! Janet
P.S. Ann, if this MAW thing comes through, I will be sure to give you a shout, and, Niki, yes!yes! That would be great!

Wow, Janet, I was just checking the boards quickly before getting ready for school, but I just had to read and respond to your post. As a mother myself, I just really hurt for you and the ordeal you all have been through with Katie. I agree with everyone else: take her to Disney.

Janet,
I just read the thread; I'm in agreement with all the others. You've done the right thing--Disney World, look out! :)

I wish there was a Make A Wish foundation for adults....

*grins*

Sounds good to me. And, I know exactly what I would wish for....unfortunately, I have a few things...lol.

*turns to Janet*

Sounds like it was a meeting to be a part of with the MAW lady :). LOL! Katie just keeps surprising and entertaining us ;).

Paperwork/redtape is a pain...but, sometimes, the end results can be wonderful :). GOOD LUCK!!!

Wiping the drool off while trying to remove the wedding band! (it's a fantasy after all!) :D

Truth be told, it would be a disservice for either of those gentleman to run into any VR women. It would just ruin them for any other women that came along! :D

Katie is pregnant with Lola Bunny..........sigh!

Katie is pregnant with Lola Bunny..........sigh!

Haven't heard back from the MAW folks yet - they thought it would be Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, Katie is convinced that she is she is pregnant with Lola Bunny. Katie wondered how her wish would come true - if she would just wake up and Lola Bunny would be alive and waiting for her or what. So Don tried to explain that only God could create life and further attempted to explain the baby process. To make a long story short, Katie is now convinced that baby Lola Bunny is in her tummy. She is watching cartoons and sitting very still with her hand on her tummy, so she doesn't hurt Lola Bunny....................sigh! Bet this doesn't last too long, though, as sitting still is not in Katie's nature. Hugs. J.

Katie is a neverending supply of entertainment! :D Nathan and I are rolling with laughter at this one. Simply priceless... Thank you SO much for sharing. :D

Heehee!

Heehee!

Hey, I've told you, Niki, that Katie can come and stay for an extended visit any time you want. :D LIttle buggar talked me into Chuck E. Cheese this afternoon - she decided that this wouldn't hurt "the baby." Geez! BTW, how are you doing? Guess I should PM you, but I be tired.............Chuck E. kicked my butt. Hope all is well with you. Now about that Katie............when did you want her? heehee! :D Hugs and love. J.

Gee... uh, Nathan and I seem to be pretty busy these days... We may have to take a rain check on that visit from Katie. ;)

I'm doing fine. I got the VAC off yesterday! Woo hoo! :D I didn't post anything about it because I had to leave right after that to spend the rest of the day with 19 of my students at the Frisco Middle School One Act Festival. My students performed very well, and now it is finally OVER. :D

Anyway, today I need to concentrate on getting my homework done for my class I'm taking, so I guess I ought to get to it. Have a great day, and be sure to hug little Katie for me (but gently, so as not to hurt baby Lola Bunny ;) ).

Janet,

You have no idea how often you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think all the time about you and how much you deal with daily and how on earth you keep that great attitude and fabulous sense of humor. I have people everywhere praying for Katie regularly. I truly expect a miracle with that precious little girl!

I've been laughing out loud over Katie's current "pregnancy". Madi, my little 5 year-old granddaughter, has been "pregnant" with every character you can imagine! She goes through labor and delivery also. Then bundles the new baby in her blanket and protects it with her life. One time I unthinkingly threw the blanket in the wash and I'm not sure she ever recovered from it. She was running through the house screaming, "Oh my gosh, what's happened to my baby!" I'm used to it now, but I nearly lost it a couple of years ago at Christmas when her little sister was just a couple of months old. Madi was 3 at the time. Molly was down for a nap but crying. Madi had gone in to put Molly's pacifier back in her mouth and she stayed in the room for a few minutes. When she came out, she was wrapped in a shawl from head to toe and she announced to me that she was a virgin. I bristled immediately and asked her what she meant. She repeated that she was a virgin. I asked her who had been discussing being a virgin with her, and if she knew what it meant, and now was determined to get to the bottom of this. She could tell I was getting alarmed and she looked up at me and and in all seriousness said, "OK Mimi, that's NOT Molly in there crying, it's the Baby Jesus and I'm the VIRGIN MARY, OK?"

One of these days I would love to get these two together. We'd have material to laugh over for the rest of our lives!

As for Disney World, it's a trip your whole family will remember for a lifetime. If it works out that you can go before Katie's surgery, I would go and enjoy every moment of it. The memory of it will be fresh on her mind as she's once again facing her surgery, and she'll have lots of things to think about and tell about while she's in the hospital. (Not to mention a whole new cast of characters needing a mother.)

I'm serious about getting them together! Somehow let's work it out sometime soon.

God bless you,

Kay

I would go for Disney because I till remember my kids face when we were there yrs. ago. It is a place where dreams can come true. I wish you and your well.

Brad and George

Brad and George

Ooooo, they are two of the hottest men in the world! I wonder what could be going through Jen's mind letting him get away!

That is TOO funny, Katie deciding she was pregnant with Lola Bunny! Oh, kids, what WILL they think of next! Keep us posted and let us know what MAW says, I hope that they can give Katie her wish!

Hugs!

Niki: Yeah, I figured you would decline my "generous" offer. :D I am so glad to hear that you are off the VAC - the best kind of weight to lose! Now, I hope you got your homework all finished up like a good girl, instead of hanging out online (noticed your little green light was on). Hugs. J.

Kay: Thank you so much for the laugh - believe me, this was desperately needed today! Madi sounds like quite the little ham, too, and I would love to get them together. Would have to be a pretty sturdy place, though. Maybe the zoo - just not the Dallas one unless they have fixed that gorilla cage! :D Thanks, too, for the prayers. Those are always welcome and appreciated. Hugs. J.

Joy and Sherrin: Thank you both so much and will do. Hugs. J.
