Hey - sounds like a great reason to brag. Congratulations on keeping us coumadin users in check. With experts like you we have a chance of getting the information out there to the medical world that still treats us without proper knowledge.

Thank you and brag all you want - we understand.

Keep sticking it to them, AL!

Keep sticking it to them, AL!

Hope you do many more in 2006:D :D

Wow, your fingers must be VERY sore!:D :D :D

Congratulations to our Warfarin Guru!

Al - that's amazing! Makes my 50 or so a year look somewhat insignificant. Great to get such a strong endorsement for my favourite gadget:)
Boy, you must buy those test-strips by the pallet-load...
A very happy and healthy new year and thanks for the great advice!

Al, one of my son's favorite quotes is from the movie Anchorman, in which the lead character says, "I don't mean to brag, but I'm kind of a big deal." I think that applies to you, my friend. I only wish I had your expertise in my neck of the woods. Congratulations. :) :)

your awesome!

your awesome!

With numbers like that you can tell me to go "stick it" any time you wish!:D :D
Thanks for all your help too!!!

My partner was off last week so I don't know how many he wound up with. I'll find out Tues.

I did not count the 2 or 3 people that I monitor in the hospital daily.

WOW!! Folks being cared for by you are getting a lot of expertise!! Thanks for sharing your expertise with us via VR.com.

I ran 4,910 finger-stick tests on CoaguChek-S this year.

how many are still alive to talk about it? :D Sounds like braggin' rights to me. Have ya thought about moving to Texas?

About 1 or 2 per month die. Remember though that I take all diagnoses. Many have clots due to cancers and are not in very good shape when they are referred to me. We have about 550 active patients. Several go back 8+ years to when I started doing this full-time.

No. We have a bunch of them.

I have so many that when there was a shortage of strips a few years ago, the Roche sales rep was offering a free CoaguChek-S if you would loan him a box of 48 strips. I wrote back offering him a CoaguChek-S if he would get me a box of strips!

Geez, Al!

Geez, Al!

Just from a little finger poke? WHat do ya poke 'em with? ........a railroad spike?? :D I was just a joshin' ya, Al. Didn't really want to know the REAL truth, as I refuse (or try to anyway) to pay attention to those things. If I did, Katie would already be in her grave (I shudder at just typing that!), God bless her, but thank you for clarifying. I did need that additional info in this case. ;) Many hugs. J.

P.S. I don't feel like I am stealing this thread since it's yours, but you would make a great teacher. I know you already are with us and the whole coumadin issue, but your response to DrAllen (?) on another thread was wonderful from a teaching perspective. You used a great, real world allegory to convey your message. Plain and simple, message got across.........even for a medical dimwit like me. Many hugs. J.
