Since my surgery I have some pain some new some old but this has happened a few time and I am not sure what to do.. In both of my arms I have had pain the whole arm at separate times pain is a warming painful pain and my arm goes weak.nany thoughts

I am not a doctor. But if I was having these pains post surgery I would call my cardio and or surgeon and get some medical attention. I see you live in PA near Philly....from your other post it appears that you had the surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. You were very fortunate that you were taken there. Who was your surgeon?

Dr Woo I have not seen him for my follow up yet there are soo many question I have for him. I feel like I am in the dark. Cause only he know how much they replaced and what they replace the discharge papers told some but not all.. And it's not until the feb 11. The arm pain goes away after a few mins. I have seen my Family doctor but that was more for my blood pressure and to make sure aim healing ok. My septum pop last Sunday " talk about an OMG moment. I don't have ins cause I have allways been a healthy person. That's why I don't want to go if its a "normal issue"

Mazahuh,
Can you send an email or make a phone call to your doctor (cardiologist or surgeon) to report the pain in your arm(s)? Also, in my opinion as a side sleeper who get pain in my arms sometimes, in the position they likely had to place you during surgery, it may be that you sustained a pinched nerve in either your shoulder or neck, which is sending new messages to your arm area. But in order to put your mind at ease, see if you can talk to someone in your doctor's office.
Was your surgery on an emergency basis? Or had the surgery been discussed previously?
Keep us updated. Best Wishes on your recovery

So you went into surgery on an emergency basis? What prompted you to seek medical attention? Did you loose consiousness? Were you in pain? What the need for surgery detemined in the Emergency Room? If I am not being too nosey, can you provide some details?
How has the pain in your arm been recently?

Yes I can.
I got up and all of sudden I had soo much pain in my head like I could feel my heart beat pressuer kinda of pain. While still in my head it went to my chest I could breathe but only short breaths any big one and it hurt to bad . But at the same time I couldn't breath my chest wouldn't let me. The EMT came and checked me out.
The pain stayed the same. as they loaded me in to the ambulance they put an EKG on me and said I was not having a heart attack. When I got to the hospital I could not lay down it hurt to do so.. Then it felt like I had to use the restroom the kind you sit down to do... The pain in my belly got Worce aswell as the head and chest so much so they gave me 3 shot of dylotted even then I would not sit still they sedated me 3 times for the cat scan. The doctor seen i had a aortic dissection from the cat scan and off to a better hosptial i went. I posted a little bit more in post surgry about what happen after i went to Penn state for the surgery.

As for the pain in my arms it has come and gone over the last 2 weeks never more than a few mins at a time.

Hi, Yes, the lightbulb finally went on in my head. I didn't put this post together with your other one until a few minutes ago.
So anyway, your sure did have a heck of a ride into surgery. But you are in a better frame of mind and can certainly get better answers as to what happened from your doctor's.
A number of years ago an actor named John Ritter was taken to an ER with pretty much the same symptoms as you presented with. Unfortunately, he was not as lucky as you and did not survive the dissection. So you have been given a gift. You and your wife have a whole lot more living to do.
In my opinion I think that the short pain that you are feeling in your arms could be connected to how your body was positioned during your surgery. You were in fact spread like a Christmas goose and it takes a little time to get all the circuits working correctly again. But remember if the pain is persistent don't shy away from calling your doctor or going to the ER. Better to be safe than sorry. I wish you well in your recovery. :)
