Is there an "equivalent" to walking up stairs as a test?

I'm asking for a friend. ;-)

But seriously, I know one of the gauges for sexual relations is that you're supposed to be able to walk up one or two flights of stairs without needing to stop. But since my wife really doesn't like to drive, and there really aren't any places in town anyway with a lot of stairs, I really can't "test" it out.

If I "make the block" in my neighborhood by walking, that's almost a mile. I'd think walking the block would be a sufficient test.

Anybody got any information on this?

Hmmmm. Personally, I can walk around the block more easily than doing two flights of stairs, so it wouldn't be equivalent for me. But I'm far from a perfect physical specimen. I waited until I was doing well in cardiac rehab then went for it. No problems. Everyone is different so I'd check with your cardio for personal guidelines.

If you can find one step, or something similar enough to a step, then you could just step up and down at least 12 times. I think a staircase typically has at least 12 steps.

Well, I can probably do a dozen or so body weight squats fairly easily...does that count?

Also, I'm able to go through a slightly modified version of the 30 minute "Stand Up" DDPYoga workout.

Do those count?

I typed "step test" into google and this was the first hit:

seems to be one step.

The point of step tests is that unlike walking (which is essentially the most efficient form of human transport : thus requiring the minimum of energy) you have to lift your weight up.
