What with this utterly ridiculously frigid weather, I'm sure most of us (except for our Kiwi and Aussie friends!) are suffering.

My Norwegian Forest Cats -- inside cats -- think they're back home in their homeland instead of Texas! Their cats are tremendous!
I bought a new sweatshirt & sweatpants to sleep in; paired with wool socks, and I'm toasty under a down comforter & with at least 2 (shorthaired) cats under the covers with John & me.

How are the rest of you faring?

Southern and Eastern Ontario are enjoying a relatively mild and stable winter season so far.
We have a few inches of snow that has fallen, but no blizzards.
I guess this is one of the few areas that hasn't succumbed to totally freak weather systems.

Its freezing here in Georgia. Ann did you bring this cold weather from Fla? Its suppose to snow tomorrow night.

I swapped for a heavier blanket on the bed. I've got flannel sheets, flannel jamies, a winter blanket, a comforter, an afghan, one Labrador Retriever (just Jet - Tank has trouble jumping on the bed, poor old guy) and one geriatric cat, together with DH, to keep me warm. Tank has a new orthopedic bed, though, so he's happy.

We got into the office Monday morning, and the heat was off. At 26 degrees, that office was cold. We've cancelled all the training classes from now through the weekend. Single digit windchills are cold even in Texas-Tomorrow through Sunday will be FUN. NOT.

It's a typical winter day here, -23C (-9F) with a windchill of -35C (31F). I wear a simple Tee-shirt under my sweatshirt during the day and a perfect duvet on the bed - keeps me warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Marsha, do you want me to send you some ear muffs?

I like your avatar, Freddie. I can't deal with the cold, sitting here in my big coat b/c I'm so cold all the time... but new duvet came in the mail today, can't wait to get it on the bed b/c I am freezing every night, even with flannel sheets, multiple blankets and a comforter. Would be of course that my bedroom is the coldest room in the house! Like Sue said it's supposed to snow here tomorrow - which to me just means I'll miss yoga on Friday but of course my kids will love it!

Freddie:

Bought a pair Sunday. Work great.

BTW, John served in the U.S. Air Force & was stationed for 1 year in Iceland at the NATO base near Reykjavík. Said it was da&$ed cold & terribly windy in the winter. Had to go from barracks to office buildings by holding onto ropes staked to poles.
Wasn't much better in the summer; I saw photos of his buddies on a camping trip, wearing parkas.

It's been cold here, teens and single digits. The worst thing is that it is windy which makes it seem very, very cold, actually biting cold. I had to break out my Eskimo gear to walk the dog with a faux fur edged snorkel hood. It keeps my face from freezing. May have to resort to the balaclava if it gets worse. And I put new fleece liners in my favorite mittens. The dog has a double layer fleece coat, even though she has a pile of long fur on her.

I do love to sleep under a down comforter with the windows open a little. :) There is something very pleasant about that. The comforter keeps me toasty warm.

Freddie's got me beat by a mile, though! That's what real cold is!. It could get that way later in the winter for us. Quit sending us that Canadian cold air, Freddie.

Olefin, I have a cousin who was at the Greenland Air Force base. He was in the weather department. He's long retired now. Maybe you knew him. I'll PM you with his name.

Warm spell today . . . 24 degrees. :eek:Weather system moving in overnight and the temperature should hover around zero.
Back in early December, we had an opportunity to trade our 28 year old heating/cooling system in on a high efficiency heat pump. I hated to do it, but the last two weeks of frigid weather has proven we made the right decision. I'm actually looking forward to this month's electrical bill.;):p

So much for Global Warming. I plan to triple my carbon footprint in 2010 before I freeeeeeeze to death.:D

Nancy, that's normal for us, but tonight will be colder than what I have previously mentioned....... -40 windchill until tomorrow night. Saturday should be -6C (21F), yep that's how fast our weather changes.

It was -12 here last night. We have tons of snow which has packed down and is now frozen. The roads are so dangerous because theres very little gritting going on and we are totally unprepared for this type of extreme weather. As for sleeping, Im a very cold person at the best of times so now Im sleeping in jamies tucked into really thick socks, sweatshirt, with 2 duvets and a throw. The schools were due to open today, but they have remained shut. The weather forcast is for this weather to continue for at least 10 more days. I have an appointment with the cardiologist on 18th (in Dublin) so I hope and pray the weather improves by then.

Hope your all cosy and warn.

Nineteen below zero this morning here in Bismarck, ND. We are expecting a high of ten below. Expecting 30 below zero for Friday morning. If you add in the wind...it is really cold. I hope to get out with the snow blower this afternoon and clean up the 7 inches of snow we got yesterday.

Its cold in the uk. Just heard on the radio, its meant to be down to -14 tonight feel cold just thinking about it. We have snow too, with more on the way for the weekend. Got my hubby to measure how much snow we have and it turns out we have about 3 and a half inches, none of it has gone yet even though it has been sunny for the past 2 days.
