I am up to 2 weekly testing or weekly if I am out of range...
working my way up to monthly needle-sticks .

This home-testing popularity hasnt gotten to Australia yet so we make-do with clinics or at the local Doctors., if youre permitted/lucky/game you can chose your own dose or the Doctor can decide for you :D .

I didn't vote because I'm lucky if I get there every other month, sometimes it's every 3 months. Teaching hours and doctor's hours just don't work well together. I was glad to see that Al recommends 6-7 weeks for those who are good - I don't feel so guilty. After 8 years, I am very stable and can't remember the last time I had a dose change - probably 3 years ago when I lost weight. I've been told that more often than once a month is too often because it takes awhile for the INR to stabilize if you use slight dosage changes. Of course, more frequent checks might be necessary if you are way off.

More frequent checks can be the cause of the INR being off. Unless the INR is above 8 and you are holding doses waiting for it to come down, testine more than once a week will throw the INR off. The reason is that any dosage change will take two or three days to show up in the INR. If you test before the change is fully established, you will make irrational dosage changes.

I test Chloe weekly just for my peace of mind. Shes fairly stable but I just like to have that reassurance.

My Cardio's clinical nurse wants me to call her..once a month. I home-test...so do it every 3 weeks..so I can adjust if I have too.:D that tweaking up/down can have it at a perfect 3.0 when I call her.:) always in the 2.5-3-5 range.Bonnie
