I use it because my allergies really dry out my sinuses. Helps with sinus headaches, helps prevent colds and sinus infections - it's just a great habit to get into. Although I wouldn't recommend dong it around anyone but your significant other, and maybe not even then!!!! :D

Christina, my ear, nose and throat specialist recommended to apply Vaseline just inside the nose with a Q-Tip along with a humidifier.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Freddie,

I am using first aid cream to rub in my nose. My husband says that Carmex works too. But I have Vaseline and I will try that too.

INR Is Never Right!!

INR Is Never Right!!

Well my dear friends, we just never know what our INR will do. When we think it'll do the same as before, don't count on it because there's no guarantee. A few weeks ago when I skipped a dose my INR went to half where it was a couple days earlier. This past Wednesday my INR was 6.8 so I skipped Thursday thinking it would do the same as a few weeks back, but I was wrong.:eek::eek: My INR fell to an all time low of 1.5.
My husband is afraid of what can happen because of this low number and wants me to take more than my regular dose but I took the 15mg and will take 16mg tomorrow and test again on Sunday. Hopefully, I'll be in range again soon.
Any comments?

I'm guessing the 6.8 may have been bogus for what ever reason. Skipping one dose should not have dropped you that low. Or it was high the day you tested for some out of the ordinary reason and was on it's way back down quickly.

Sunday may be to soon to retest. Remember its takes 3 to 4 days for the new dosage to change the reading - Tuesday might give you a more accurate reading.

Christina, hoping your better, from reading your post
and my warfarin for all my years was great, odd fall
out and since recent surgery jan for this week nosebleeds
and course my inr's jump continually and sure not due to
my dosages, cus i,ve stubbornly stayed same just the
unstibility,oh it is a joy and then nosebleeds when i too
hit the 3.1 inr range only at 2ish inr no nosebleeds.
But i'm not changing dose and it goes high and low on it's
own anyways.....Must be the new valve job they did on me:p
But joining you in these nosebleeds, and yup, cant go to bed
and it's frustrating.
Maybe i will try some cayenne pepper in the nose:eek::D
Take care keep us posted, prayers it resolves for better
you and i:confused:

Hi Christina

Sorry to hear what has been happening to you,

I too have been suffering nosebleeds for the past two years, usually lasting an hour or so but could be up to two hours, there has been very little change in my INR
but I have been having problems with sinus conjestion, I had a sinus infection over Christmas and need 3 courses of Antibiotics. and I put the nose bleeds down to that.

On Friday I saw an ENT Specialist and he cauterised some blood vessels in one nostril it took just three minutes it was uncomfotable when he stretched the nostril and sprayed some stuff up before cauterising. it is fine now, so hopefully it will work.

hope you are feeling better

keep smiling

Jan

Christina, I think you have a lot of wisdom dealing with health issues, and hope you are now on the mend. All the best, Brian

Hi Jan,

So sorry to hear that you are also suffering with the identical thing and that you had some veins cautherized last Friday. I haven't been that brave yet. I knew I couldn't be alone in this but I don't remember ever seeing a thread from someone who was suffering, with at times almost endless nosebleeds. A friend of mine in our Tuesday group told me that he's suffering with this as well but I again don't remember him ever posting his problem to our VR.com family.
I hope the cautherization works for you and that you won't have any future problems with those nasty nosebleeds.
