Remodeling our kitchen: Is there any knowledge regarding close proximity to induction cooktops (all the rage these days) and having an On-X Valve in the aortic position? Thanks for considering this!

Are you planning to lie down on the cooktop? :eek2:

If not, I would not think there would be any problem with any type of mechanical heart valve. If mechanical valves are MRI-compatible, I would assume you would be safe around a cooktop, microwave or whatever.

Interesting. My 'tissue' valve structure is made of high strength titanium and wrapped with tissue and I have MRI strength limitations.

Induction cookware must be made of a magnetic-based material, such as cast iron or magnetic stainless steel so I'm safe.

If you can get your wedding ring close without any issues I would think that your valve is safe. The metal needs to be inside the coil to get hot.
