I know that you can use the InRatio strips long after the expiration date shows up on the strip. I was told that one year is fine.
I haven't had any CoaguChek XS strips expire on me, so I don't know if the meter will allow you to use the strips after they expire.
The ProTime meters will DEFINITELY NOT allow testing with an expired strip -- some people may change the date on their machines in order to be able to continue using the strips.
I don't know about CoaguSense -- I've used up my strips many months before the expiration date.

I've owned my meters and bought my own supplies since 2009. Before that, it was an occasional (for many years, VERY OCCASIONAL, blood draw. I was fortunate (blessed?) to not have any 'events' during my long periods between tests).
The cost of meters is quite variable, depending on when you buy, which meter you buy, etc. I've found that strips, depending on meter, run from around $3 to around $6 or $7 each.

As far as the 21 gauge lancets go -- I have AT LEAST 1000 (I bought a bunch on eBay a few years ago) -- and I'm glad to share a box or two. Just PM me.
