I'll google a bit and see what I find. I've got a renal cyst in the lower part of my right kidney. It was found on an abdominal cat scan and called "incidental" and I don't think it has ever caused any problems. Did you get any comment about yours?
Nope. None. Just what I read on that report.

Ross, I don't understand this......do you mean to say that you have not discuss the report with your doctor? When do you plan to do it?
Please don't be there worring to death when it is probably nothing to worry about. Call your doctor and ask him/her and let us know. Praying for you

Mushrooms Are Good For You

There are immune system boosters that are made from mushrooms. Maybe these will have a good effect on the old tree hosting them!:D I hope so! Your valve bro, Brian

We have a Ziggy cartoon from the newspaper

We have a Ziggy cartoon from the newspaper

on our refrigerator that I cut out after my surgery. Ziggy is sitting on an exam table and the doctor is saying, "Second opinion? Shouldn't you just leave well enough alone?"

This thread made me think of that. :D

Sometimes we just have to leave "well enough alone." lol

But seriously, Ross, I hope your cysts represent nothing major - I understand your being worried.

Well as long as I don't have one on the brain or growing out the side of my face I guess were ok.

What I'm coming up with is that a lot of people have them....maybe as high as 11% of the population and most are not problems though large ones may be drained, biopsied, or removed since there is a small fraction that can develop into malignancies. I know you have had kidney problems in the past so your cyst is probably more of interest than mine. Actually my "incidental" cyst is larger than yours so it would be nice to just file it away as truly "incidental" unless proven otherwise.

I know what you're thinking though about having a propensity to forming cystic tissue....maybe there is a connection, who knows. What prompts the body to form cysts anyhow? Is it a self-protective response to wall off a potential threat? I don't know. My youngest son had some problems in his neck as a baby. He had some branchial remnants and an "unencapsulated" dermoid type cyst. Because of it's characteristics it was called a malignancy. He had several surgeries and has had no problems with it in 36 years. So what I'm thinking is that "cysts" can be of all different types. Just what I'm thinking, that's all.

I know they'r'e watching me for Goodpastures or Wegeners, but that's all I've ever read and nether of those, as far as I can see, create cysts. Lets face it, I'm just a walking cyst.
