First it was by bladder, then the apex of my heart, now kidneys. Does it ever stop? Anyone know the significence of kidney cysts?

Ross, I know you must be as frustrated and disgusted

as I am whereas we keep getting hit with something new on a regular basis, of which we both know we do not need. I wish I knew what to say about the cysts, but all I can offer is my understanding of your frustration and you know you have my prayers and neverending support. You are definitely in the right to ask "Will It Ever Stop" as I wonder that myself.....Harrybaby:confused:

Ross, you could always consult a urologist. I have 2 cysts, 1 larger than the other, on my left kidney, 1 at the upper apex(sp) and one at the renal pelvis, have had them for years, discovered in '92. The urologist said it was nothing to worry about as people develop them. He could drain them but they usually come back and that procedure is risky. As long as there are no symptoms related to them, leave them alone. Hope this helps.

Exert I found: Most kidney cysts are harmless and don't need to be removed. Your doctor will send you to a urologist (a doctor with training in kidney problems) if your cyst keeps getting bigger, if you have problems because of the cyst or if there is any concern that the cyst might be cancerous.

Hi Ross

I don't know much about cysts, but this is from the Cedar Sinai sit on bicuspid valve disease -

Signs of degenerative disease may exist in other blood vessels and organs. Examples of this are subclavian or renal artery aneurysms, cysts in the kidneys and liver, hiatal hernias and effects on the eyes resulting in poor vision.

So, it sounds like there is at least a chance that the wonky gene that led to your bicuspid aortic valve and aortic aneurysm are also causing the cysts. The gift that keeps on giving! Kate

While a new finding is always worrysome, the terms" incidental and small" seem to be the operative words. I bet it will be a watch and wait type of thing that hopefully will stay the way it is.

Yeah nothing to worry about, but sheesh. Everytime I turn around, they find something else to keep tabs on. I must be getting ancient.

I guess the older we all get, the more little things start to grow on us, like fungus and mold on an old tree :D Probably has nothing to do with your heart problems, just a sign of "maturing"

Most of us don't get to find out about these little things, but those with medical problems are in the spotlight quite a bit, and all those tests show a lot of stuff.

Joe had a lot of incidental things show up in x-rays and CT scans. Some appeared worrisome, but never caused problems or advanced to any degree.

Sorry you have something else to worry about Ross, hope they turn out to be harmless.

I knew it. Not only am I a walking cyst, but a mushroom as well. :(

Being a mushroom is a good thing, probably one of the most ancient forms of plant life. And you can't kill them. If you mow them down, they are back up again within hours.:p

Poor old Ross.....fungus and mold have invaded your body..... :D
And now Nancy wants to mow you down.;)
Seriously, don't most us of have little bumps and lumps that we never notice and that may never do any harm.
My old dog has lots of them.

Sorry to hear of your recent medical issue. But as others have said, all of this "wonderful stuff" does come with age. You are not old, but you are more "mature" than most. :D

My husband who is 56 has started to have his first health issues ever - so they happen to everyone sooner or later. We here on VR.com unfortunately had to deal with health issues earlier than most.

It's a revolving door "and a business"

It's a revolving door "and a business"

I have come to the conclusion....more appointments you attend. More issues will be found. Additional appointments will be made. Vicous cycle. Not saying you should ignore your health. I do make my annual exams. One of which is tomorrow. Non heart realted. And, an issue I have been putting on the back burner for 7 years. I think it has finally bit me in the rear. May have to address it now:mad:

Hope your situation turns out well. Kidney cysts are harmless. If it were cancer...it would be obvious Ross. We have had the variety in the family. Positive outcome 6 years.

Well if I should worry about it, He would have said so. (Wouldn't he?)

I'm sure its nothing, but can't help but wonder why so many in all these places. My lungs have the most only instead of calling them cysts, they call em blebs.

I'll google a bit and see what I find. I've got a renal cyst in the lower part of my right kidney. It was found on an abdominal cat scan and called "incidental" and I don't think it has ever caused any problems. Did you get any comment about yours?
