Well, Joe is in the hospital. Not heart related this time.

He was bringing in the garbage can this morning and slipped and fell on some snow covered ice and took a full body slam. He couldn't get up, had hit his shoulder and his leg and back. I found him a couple of minutes after in a heap at the end of the driveway. So I had to call 911 and off he went to the ER.

We spent all day there and he had several xrays. All looked OK, just bruising and he was going home, but when he got up, he couldn't put weight on his leg. It was too painful, so he's spending the night and having a bone scan tomorrow to make sure there isn't a hairline fracture that didn't show and to get some physical therapy on how to walk on crutches.

Unfortunately, his INR was 3.9 this morning, so whatever happens he's going to be looking like the purple people eater with bruises all over.

And I thought we were going to have a nice hospital free spell.

By the way, I HATE the ER. They are so-o-o-o-o slow. Only fun we had was a couple of out of control people who were brought in.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Sometimes with Joe, you just want to say, "Aw, c'mon! He's had enough for a while! Quit pickin' on him!"

He's tough, though. He somehow just keeps chugging along. I hope this clears up for him soon and you do get that time away from the glacial-speed service at the ER.

Very best wishes,

Nancy,
I'm sorry to hear that, I hope he is OK.
ER's sure are no fun.
It seems like every time we think we are free and clear for awhile something happens. We know that feeling, believe me.

So sorry to hear this Nancy and hope that Joe is home tomorrow. All our best wishes are going your way.

You found my boys? :D

I do hope he's going to be fine and nothing is broken. Maybe you should wrap him up in bubble wrap before allowing him to go outside? ;)

Hey Nancy,
I am so sorry to hear about Joe. I hope everything turns out OK. You and Joe will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

OH, Nancy, I am so sorry.......

OH, Nancy, I am so sorry.......

Sending prayers and hugs. Please let us know how that scan goes today (?). Hope you guys are home soon. J.

Nancy,
Joe's living the "if it weren't for bad luck, there'd be no luck at all" scenario.
I hope the leg's not fractured, and he just needs time to recover from the fall.

Good thing he's so darn tough!

Good thing he's so darn tough!

One thing ya gotta say about Joe........... He's one tough duck!! I can't believe all the stuff he goes through!

Give him our love, Nancy... you too. :)

Hi Nancy,

I hope the x-rays show nothing broken and Joe has a speedy recovery. Hopefully he will be home by the time you read this. Also wishing you an early spring up there in cold country. :)

The orthopedist was in today and there apparently aren't any breaks, thank God. But he needs physical therapy to be able to walk on his leg. I guess he has very large hematomas and weight bearing is extremely painful He started started with a walker and a couple of steps today. But he's got to work up to climbing stairs. It looks like a Monday discarge.

Hi Nanc

PLEASE give Joe our very best and tell him to get out of there as soon as possible!!!! I'm so sorry you've got another hospital stay on your hands. Maybe it will be severe bruising....hope, hope, hope!!!

I'll put you both in my prayers.

Evelyn

Nancy,
Happy to hear there is no break although Joe still probably hurts like there was one.
I wish him (and you) a speedy recovery and tell him to remember his ice skates the next time he wants to slide on the ice - :D
Take care.

Nancy - Sorry to hear about Joe's accident. I think we all need to go really slow on the snow and ice. Glad to hear there are no breaks. I suppose that means he will recovery more quickly. Hope you are doing well also, you are a very supportive person, you know.
Bill

I sure hope Joe will start to feel better soon and can come home Monday.. :) You need to buy him a pair of Get a Grip...to wear under his shoes..Bonnie
