Met the surgical team today. WOW! What a relief to meet these people who will have my heart in their hands. The anesthesiolgist was a trip. I got tired just listening to her talk. But she knew her stuff. She almost got the surgery postponed because I had had what was diagnosed as a thrombosis event several years ago, but the only test the doctor ran was Lieden Factor V at my insistence. No other diagnostics were run, so the doc said that they need to know what happened, or run the blood tests prior to the surgery, and the tests are only run once a week at a different center. She said that we would have to postpone the surgery.
Turned out that Tuesday (tomorrow) is the day they run the test, so off to get blood drawn and sent off. Should know the results tomorrow, but the Thoracic surgeon said not to worry; as long as I stayed healthy I would be getting a new valve come Wednesday, regardless of the outcome of the blood tests.
Not sure if I'll have time to get back on until after I am home. China will be updating the site as time permits.
Until I return, God bless you all, and thanks for your prayers and wonderful support. You have made this so much easier than I expected, with your words of hope and wisdom. On the other hand, there's Ross...
Seriously, thanks so much, and I'll see you on the other side...
Cheers,
Will
