Hi All,
Well this past tuesday i had a cardiac cath test done and had some problems. Right after the test my lungs filled with fluid so the gave me lasix to rid the fluid then my blood pressure dropped pretty low. After the staff stopped freaking out  they put me on dopamine and admitted me to Anne Arundel General (Maryland) where the test was done. I stayed there till 4pm the next day when my pressure stabalized. I normally have low blood pressure. After all that drama the staff cardio and my cardio decided it was better to schedule my surgery soon. So on June 24th i will be having my aortic and mitrol valves replaced and my tricuspid valve repaired. Now i have to get to work and get myself ready for this new stage of my life. I am nervous and not looking forward to this but i want to feel better and stronger. So onward and forward. I have faith in god, my surgeon and myself so lets do it, lol. I want to thank you all here for your kindness and wisdom and helpful hints. This site has been so great for me. When i interviewed the surgeons they said i knew what i was talking about and that comes from this site. Thanks, Jed :D

Hi Jed,

So you have a relatively short wait. That's good. Many people feel that waiting is the most difficult part of it all.

To overcome the stress try to keep your self active in preparations for the event and what comes after. If you read through some preop threads you can pick up many ideas of what people did before.

The main thing of course is the better life waiting for you after the whole thing is over. With 3 leaky valves (I had only one) you can probably do much much better after surgery.

We are with you before, during and after. Try to keep us informed.

Best of luck to you. You know we all go with you through this, so please have someone post on your behalf or I'll release the hounds and when that happens, it ain't pretty.

Enjoy yourself as much as possible from now until then. Do whatever it takes to keep from going nuts. We are here if you need to vent or talk.
:)

Hi Jed

I remember when my husband, Tyce, had his avr done--this June 26 will be two years. We consulted with the surgeon about the tenth of June, and he was scheduled and done on the 26th. IMHO, a short wait is better than a longer one. You're so busy getting "things" ready, that you are able to "semi-push" it out of your mind. I'm sure you will be fine....I will put you in my prayers. Good luck.

Evelyn

Jed, the waiting is the worst part, so I'm glad you only have a couple weeks to wait. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, please keep us posted. Any questions, just ask.

Good luck with the surgery, I have to wait at least until September for mine, being in Canada things move slowly, I was initially told I needed surgery back in February and it took 3 months just to get in to see the surgeon, well enough about my problems. Not having had the surgery yet I can't offer any great advice but there are dozens of fine people that frequent this site that can!
Wishing you strength for you and yours. ;)
