Ross, Can't believe what you just did. Lynn should of never left you alone, your crazy (which I think we all are sometimes)Anyways, I'm glad you did'nt bleed to death. "Your a jack of ALL trades I guess". I never know what I will find you doing when I log on.
Why would I bleed to death? Now if I were under those silly Dentists care, I might, but not on my own.

Lets be realistic. I wouldn't want to cheat myself out of some hard earned cash now.
Wisdom teeth $375 each
Impacted Wisdom teeth $500 each
Simple extractions $130 per tooth
Complex or difficult extractions $175 per tooth
Must have at least 32 teeth for me to pull!

I'm sure any of you would have done the same. You may not want to admit it, but you know you would.
Actually Ross, it seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do and I am glad it worked out that well. You also saved getting exposed to countless germs in a waiting room to be seen and again later for a follow-up. Good job!

i'm sure he sees the doc once every 2 years,but it's got to be trying
reasons,such as pnemonia,which thought he had,so went in and Doc
said haven't seen you in 2 years,whats the problem?

no dental appt,but i bet same pain or less?as you were the surgeon.
usually if we take things upon ourselves it hurts less

LOL - one of the vets that used to work at the clinic where I work part time was complaining about the cost of dental treatments (human dental treatments that is).
Next day I went in to one of the surgery rooms and there he was, doing his own scale and clean on himself, with a mirror propped up on the bench, using the equipment that we use to do the animal's dental treatments
I know that it is sterilised in the autoclave after each use, but.......how clean do they really make them?????? I pity the poor dog that had to have that equipment used on it after this guy had finished with it, LOL Just kidding...

After I saw this I went in to the smoko room and told one of the nurses what he was doing, she said it made her sick, just the thought of it, especially when I told her how much he was dribbling, lol

I have a small piece of tooth left in my gum from having the tooth out about 5 months ago, it drives me mad to, but theres no way i could do what you did you would have to pick me up off the floor. but was wondering i could fly over to the US from england and you could do it, then fly home and it still would be cheaper than going to dentist to have it removed. LOL

It really wasn't that big of a deal. Just took the pic, made a perhaps 1/8th inch cut above it, stuck the pick in and pulled the thing out. Probably didn't even need to hold the gauze on it as long as I did either. Heck there was only two little drops of blood on it. About the same as wiping my finger off after a finger stick test.
Sure thing Tex. If you think dental fees are bad there, you'd pass out seeing the prices here!

It's probably a good thing you did it, because most likely the site would have been a good place for infection to start from the irritation.

Ross...you did right. That "thing" is called a bony spicule. You did exactly what the dentist would have. It eventually would have worked its way out of the gum tissue, but why put up with that?

A month of pain when bitting down even on soft foods was enough to make me take action. I could only feel the sharpest point of it with my finger. When I got it out, it was a fairly large chunk that would have taken several more months to come out on it's own.
