Well, I'm going to be a grandma! A very young grandma, but a grandma nonetheless.

Our son, who is graduating from college next month and his girlfriend of 2 years came home a few months ago to tell us the rabbit had died. No one had intended on killing the poor rabbit, but I suspect the truck that hit me during my valve surgery headed straight for that poor little rabbit crossing the road. And they came to tell us while the body was still warm.

My first grandchild will arrive around the first few weeks of October. They heard the heart beat for the first time today and called very excited over the experience. It has been a rough couple of months. Lots of ups and downs do to some really tough pregnancy hormone changes, but now that the first trimester is over, things seem to be improving. There's been a lot to adjust to (and will continue to be) as two young adults expecting to live a carefree life for at least few years after graduation are now preparing to be a family.

So if anyone has any connections in the advertising field in Kansas City or Chicago - I can recommend a really creative, very motivated young man in BIG need of a job.:D

What exciting news, I can tell that you are thrilled. Is there something going on here, we seem to have a number of expectant grannies. :)

My daughter (28) and her husband (29) are both feeling broody so I would imagine that they will announce in the next twelve months too.

Karlynn, I'm so excited for you! It's wonderful being a grandmother! We have one...a grandson. He is almost 22 months, and I could just eat him up. When he says, "Nana", my heart just melts. I can't stay out of baby stores and baby departments. It's magical! Congratulations!!!:) LINDA

You know, in this day and age, it is very heartwarming that 2 young people are taking the responsibility of a child. It is so easy for some people to bow out.
I am thrilled for you and your family. Please tell your son and his partner congratulations and same to you and Glenn.
Sorry to hear about the rabbit tho.;) :D ;)

What great news.

What great news.

Karlynn....

Congratulations on becoming a Grandma soon. I was 43 when I became "Oma" for the first time and it was the greatest thing that has happened in my life other than getting married and giving birth myself. We have 4 grandkids now and it is just wonderful. We love them more than life, but it is great after a long day that they can go home to their parents at night. They make us happy twice in a day, once when they come and once when they leave.
See what I mean? :D :D :D

Congratulations Karlynn (and to grandpa too)! You'll love being a grandma. I echo Gina, it is heartening to see young people taking responsibility for their baby. Cindy became a grandma at about the same age; she's 50 now and Jackson our grandson is 3 (his sister Emma is 1). Jessica, my stepdaughter, was 24 when she and her boyfriend's rabbitt died. They've been married now for 3 years and doing great. I wish your son and his new family all the best.

Congratulations Granny...LOL

Congratulations, Karlynn! Nothing like grandparenthood (though to be sure, you are a young'un. :D ! I have two precious granddaughters and our first grandson is due to arrive before the end of April.

Congratulations Grandma! And all my best to the soon to be new parents.

You go, girl grandma! Grandmotherhood is the best thing ever - including your own kids (sorry, but it's true).

We're expecting our 3rd in August (however, it'll be a world record if my daughter makes it thru July - she has problems). And I can't wait. My other two are 6 and almost 3, and they're always a joy (and I'm enjoying them before they become sullen teens).

So, Karlynn, how much time have you spent in baby clothes departments? Better yet, how many baby clothes have you already purchased? 'Fess up.

Congrats and enjoy!

Hey Grandma and Grandpa:)
Congratulations! You will have the time of your life spoiling that little one.
ENJOY!:D
Take Care

Around our family we always say that we're suckers for babies! Good thing too, since we had five!
You'll love having a grandchild, Karlynn. Just get ready to hold on for the ride!

Lucky you, Karlynn! You get to do all the fun baby things again and only the yucky baby things you choose to do! And to top it off, strangers will actually think you're the mom!

Congratulations Karlynn to your

Congratulations Karlynn to your

whole family on the wonderful news. There is nothing like a baby to bring such joy into a family (speaking from experience when my sisters started having their babies some 25 years ago). It was a joyous time for our family especially for Mom and Dad. I always thought they loved their grandkids more than their kids. ;)

I think your grandchild should call you "Glama" as you are certainly not a "Grandma." :)

Your excitement is palpable - wishing you much happiness in your new role.
