I'm a little woozy here so I won't post much detail tonite. But I am home, eating, walking, talking.. I am still stunned at the healing efficiency of the human body. While some would doubt God for allowing us to be sick, I am more amazed that we can be restored.

Diana has passed on most of the detail... 27mm homograft, 'critical stenosis'... Doc says my heart was just quivering when he opened me up, and beating furiously when he closed me. My aorta was distended so he had to cut halfway to the branches. It was time, and probably not by much.

Most were amazed at how I looked when I came to, but I think that probably is because nobody realized how bad I looked before.

And the dreaded tube... from anesthesia prep to awake in SICU does not exist for me. But all who were there said I was talking and carrying on. CRNA told me I even helped getting on the table! Never happened... thanks, God!

Next day I was up. Day 3 they wanted to know if I wanted to go home. I reminded the cardio that I had just had OHS. So we waited until today.

Care was fabulous, absolutely professional, like a machine. Chattanooga would make a great destination VR vacation! Dr. Morrison is the real deal- everyone from nurses to security to the guy who took me to the car nod knowingly when you mention the surgeon. He has his own strictly followed protocols for recovery and meds, etc.

I will post more tomorrow. It's great to be here. It's great the way you all supported and prayed for me and my wife.

I will gladly answer detail questions either in forum or PM or e-mail.

Goodnight!

Hi Kenny,

Glad to see your recovering well! See sooner was better than later. :) It's over with now and all you need to do is recover! I ditto what Ross said! God Bless and Happy recovery!!

Glad you are doing well. They always ask on day three if you are ready to go home, but they wait till day four. You take care and do not push yourself. Take your time doing things and come in with question. Recovery takes time. You be good now.
