I don't watch my salt that carefully but when I eat too much I retain water, so it's easy to have learned to avoid it. I never add to my meals, don't salt any cooking water, use low sodium broths, do read sodium labels and avoid brands that over salt..... But I do love salty snacks! And I indulge in the cool weather. I eat a lot of hard dry cheese (parmesan and cheddar the most) and they are probably awfully salty. I, too, notice very salty dishes in restaurants. Yech. It's the same with sweets. If you shy away from them, then something highly sweet actually tastes bad!
Hope I dont ever have to watch things that closely, but time will tell. I'm hoping that my "mediterranean" choices will continue to serve me well....I use tons of garlic, olive oil and tomatoes and dark green veggies......we'll see!
