Took me (us really) longer to pick up the kid from his class....

The polling place for our district was at the primary school where my son attends pre-K in the afternoon so mommie and I just went down to pick him up first then we walked to the other end of the building where the polling place was. No lines, a few friendly faces. We're a small community, 14,000+ by last count as I recall. The local League of Women Voters group is running a contest to get parents out to vote. The class with the most parents of students who vote and get a little card signed by election volunteers gets a pizza party. The idea is for the little tyke to go vote with mommie and daddie.

Trick is, while he was in with me he kept trying to pull all the WRONG levers!!!!

Heeheehee....

I voted for Kerry so he'll probably lose.

I also vote across party lines, choosing the people I feel will do the best job. Last election I voted for Bush because I thought Gore was an idiot and Tipper is on my "coveted" **** list for being anti-arts.

Unfortunately Bush kinda betrayed the trust i had placed in him as a leader and a round about decent guy.

The final blow (though I didn't care for the movie much) was Farenheit 9/11 which my wife and I saw last night. Didn't realize Bush's family was so well wrapped up with the Bin Ladens, that's quite scary actually.

I stopped into vote at 9 am after I dropped the kids off at at school, start that driving at 7:30 and end at 9, it took me an hour and 20 minutes to get up to the booth. Met some really nice people in line though.

I live in a small community of about a million or so. I'm not sure how many are in my precinct. I stopped on my way to work this morning, about 7:30, and there were about 150 people in line. It took me 15 minutes counting the walks through the parking lot. The longest part was figuring out how to dial my number in! My husband went after work, about 5:30, and it took him about 15 minutes as well. It did help that our last name begins with C because they had it divided alphabetically and were walking through the line looking for people in the A-E category. Kind of made me feel guilty when I "cut" in front of all those poor souls in the K-O line, but I didn't feel bad for long.

Well, I live in the northwestern corner of Chcago -- so there are a great many people in our precinct. I got to the polling place at about 6:30 (they opened at 6:00) and there was no line. I was in and out within 5 minutes, and on my way to the office.

Hope everyone had their fair chance to cast their vote. It is one of our most important rights!

5 minutes

5 minutes

It took me all of five minutes to proudly vote for President Bush. Less than that for my two boys (age 21 & 23) ......they had to vote absentee ballots.

For the sake of friendship .....and Ross?s stress level... ...I?ll keep my comments about Kerry to myself. :p

It took us about an hour. It was that way all day in our precinct. But that was better than the early voting where an hour and a half was the norm all last week. Lots of people who took my elderly patients to vote early would have been better off, they said, if they had gone to the regular polling place.

I noticed posters going down the hall..at our community center, where we voted...Anyone over the age of 75 or with health problems..may go to front of the line..between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m...where they could take the next available machine. Maybe this would be something that all voting places could consider doing?Bonnie
