I've always been prone to bruising, so when my INR gets high, I get some pretty large bruises. I've also had spontaneous nosebleeds and bleeding from my ear on occasion. Can't remember the INR, but it wouldn't really matter because it was measured on a Coaguchek, and they're not accurate at high readings. It seems like I had a result of a veinous INR over 10 once (right after the surgery while I was having pericarditis and effusion) - doctor called at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday to make sure I wasn't bleeding from anywhere. He told me to eat plenty of Vitamin K and lay off the Coumadin for a day. That worked. I've said before that my doctor is very conservative in his treatment and it hasn't gotten me in trouble yet.
