right, Ross. that probably was the case at one time, tho. Maybe some small hospitals still do it, but our small hospital does not.

Sister owned a real estate office and weekly we checked for changes of property (houses, lots, etc) One of the changes was a nice lot that the hospital 'inherited' and we know they got it from a patient because it was way out in the country and nobody was buying out there at that time. Shame.
And I'm talking about a not for profit hospital too! I know some still work with you, but the some will not any longer.

*sighs*

This is all rather depressing :(.

I don't want a free ride ... I know the costs involved. But, at the same time, my goodness mercy me.

*rolls eyes*

I best stop right there.

Guess it depends on the mood you catch them in. Collectors that is. Legally...as long as you are making a "good faith" effort. And that can be just a few bucks a month. They can't touch you! They will try. But you can have the book thrown at them. Which usually involves digging a bigger hole.

That is what many people believe, but creditors do not have to accept anything less then full payment by law. Some will still work with you, but they are under absolutely no requirement to do so. I found this out real quick and the hard way too. We nearly went bankrupt trying to negotiate and deal with people. This is also why I'm in danger of losing this place with the sewer situation I'm facing. All our money is tied up paying medical bills. We managed to strike arrangements with everyone except the Urologist. No agreement of any sort with him and nothing short of full price to be paid. Not even a discounted price of any kind.
